The happy hour choices were great. Particularly loved the Brussels sprouts and the Bumblebee roll. Service was friendly and efficient and enjoyed the overall relaxed atmosphere.

The food was terrible, inauthentic, lacked flavor. We’ve been to Tokyo twice, as recently as this past August, and it would be sacrilegious to associate what was served for dinner last night with Japanese cuisine. We will recommend people visit Sushi Beluga in Playa del Rey instead which has Japanese chefs and servers attending to their guests and the quality, flavor and authenticity of each menu item is spectacular and consistent each and every time. Also the service at Japonica was just the worst. Two tables alongside us were served and left before all of us were served our meals. We haven’t had this awful of a dining experience in a very long time, and there is no amount of money which would ever convince us to waste our time on Japonica ever again.

We tried the Dine LA menu and ordered more from the menu. We were not disappointed. Everything was delicious, but you definitely need to be prepared for spicy. The service was an issue as they kept forgetting to bring our next dish.

It was our first time trying Japonica, and we can see why it's a neighborhood favorite. Prices were reasonable, and although we went on a busy Mother's Day evening, service was still top-notch. We liked their selection of craft Japanese beers and smoked soy sauce. We ordered the carpaccio trio and gyozas as appetizers, and assorted sushi rolls as mains. The White Lightening roll was particularly tasty. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Food is always top notch. We drive in from OC to eat here! My favorite is their Tan Tan Ramen - I order it every time!
