   We made a reservation at Javier's La Jolla and checked in on time, though things started off a bit awkwardly. Upon arrival, they asked for a phone number, which felt a bit standard, but the check-in process was a little strange. There were several employees at the desk, but only one person seemed to be handling the situation, while the others were assigned to clear menus. It was busy, and there was loud music playing, but the vibe was more chaotic than lively. Our reservation time came and went, and after about 30 minutes, we finally got a call to be seated. However, the main host asked us to wait in another area for several more minutes before finally guiding us to our table. Not exactly the smooth start we were hoping for. Once seated, the service was much better. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were friendly and attentive, though we did have to remind them that we were celebrating a birthday. It would have been nice if they had acknowledged that without needing a prompt. As for the food, it was decent but not as impressive as we had hoped. We ordered a variety of enchiladas, but there were no sides like rice or beans included--just the enchiladas themselves. After some confusion, we ended up with double beans and one order of rice for four people, which was a little odd. For dessert, we had cake and churros, and eventually, they brought out a flan with a candle for the birthday girl, which was a nice touch. What truly made the night enjoyable, though, was the company, the salsa, the music, and the smiles during our conversations. While there were some service hiccups and the food wasn't perfect, the overall experience was still fun and memorable.

   This is the third time I’ve been to Javier’s in La Jolla. Twice, I have shown up for my reservation on time or slightly before and we have had to wait a little over 30 minutes to be seated past our reservation time. It seems like they overbooked the restaurant so everyone who works there looks extremely stressed out and is just trying to keep up. Also, it was my birthday, and no one mentioned it during the whole reservation, even though it was not noted on OpenTable. And to add, we had requested weeks in advance to be seated in a quieter, location outdoors due to the loud nature of the restaurant, and we ended up getting sat right in the middle of the restaurant at a high top, squeezed right up against the people next to us. Food is all right, nothing special for Mexican food in San Diego. At this point, we won’t be coming back.

   We were 4 people, we have been here 4 times past 6 months, service was great, food only ok, felt like food needed more taste. Very disappointed, especially what I accustom too. Especially for the money. 600 bucks for 4 people. Quality of food needs to improve.

   Absolutely delicious meal. The best enchiladas I’ve ever had! I had the crab, lobster and shrimp enchiladas and they were incredible. As were everyone’s meals that they ordered. Our server Omar was very helpful and catered to my children really well too.

   While the food was very good, the noise level was very loud. It was my first time there so I had no idea on the noise level. The food portions size could have been more to justify the prices IMHO. It tasted very good but nothing extra ordinary for the price.

    Javier’s was a great evening out. Enjoyed the drinks, food, and amazing atmosphere. Fyi: Not as loud if you go earlier in the evening.
