Borrowing its name from an influential 1850s-vintage bar in the Central Business District, this pub-like tavern (with courtyard) occupies an old brick Creole cottage in the French Quarter, where well-known local bartender Chris Hannah serves up cocktails both classic and contemporary. London-born chef Philip Whitmarsh runs the kitchen.
Accolades include James Beard, World 50 Best, Art of Hospitality, Best Bar South (North America).

From the OpenTable editors: In a brick cottage with blue shutters in the French Quarter, you’ll find one of the best bars in the world, a James Beard Award winner ranked on the World’s 50 Best Bars. Beloved local bartender Chris Hannah shakes innovative cocktails like a curried banana colada or bologna negroni (say it out loud) starring mortadella-infused Campari. It’s worth staying for dinner, to sample half a dozen different types of caviar and unusual cuts like wagyu tongue and duck neck sausage.

Check the menu before going. No burgers or steaks to be had here. However, the dishes that they do make are very delectable and thought out thoroughly. We had the blood sausage and lobster raviolo and it did not disappoint. The drinks are amazing! I’m more of liquor connoisseur so that really adhere to me. The ambience felt like a speakeasy and the size felt like a dive bar but it wasn’t neither. They have outdoor seating, knowledgeable servers, and overall just a really cool experience.

Lives up to all the hype. I was blown away by everything that I ate but the caviar with crispy potatoes were incredible and the haggis was surprisingly one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten.

Celebrating my husband's birthday in New Orleans on a Monday night turns out to have a few challenges with places of business being closed on Mondays. I could not be happier to have spent the time at JOTS, on the recommendation of a friend. The amount of creativity and care with which each drink and dish was prepared was just so energizing and - delicious! Wow. Do not leave without trying one of their signature cocktails. He had the Feast of Avalon - a scotch-based libation that was out of this world, and I tried the Columbina w/City of London Gin, Cap Corse and other lovely flavors. GREAT start. We had small plates, paired with a Croatian rose, and loved each one better than the last. Sunchokes (from the sunflower plant, no less), White Asparagus, Duck, Duck, Goose, and the Crawfish Boil Raviolo w/Lobster Bisque. Beautifully prepared and presented. Hannah served each course, told us all about them, was perfectly attentive to water glasses, and all in all a delight. We capped the evening off with the Rhubarb Fool. Best advice: be as adventurous as they are. You will love it.
