Went to this place with my teenage son today, 6th july. Have to say that i was excited to find another restaurant doing my favourite food. Sadly we were both very disappointed with the food. My son had the pulled chicken burger meal, which was very dry. I sampled a variety of dishes...pulled pork, average...coleslaw, average...bbq beans, average...southern fried pots, ok...brisket chilli,poor...but the mac & cheese, i wanted to cry, please do not call that stuff mac & cheese, its an insult. Watery bowl of nastiness! If you're going to do southern soul food then please do it properly or do not bother. Will definitely not be returning.

We had the beer can chicken with sides of fries and salad and then a dessert cocktail to end as we were too full for pudding! Will definitely go back to sample more of the new menu.

Was looking forward to some southern fried chicken with all the sides at Joe's Southern Kitchen & Bar. Newly relaunched and previously Navajo Joe, JSK looks like a trendy bar and restaurant on the ground floor. I ordered the ½ fried chicken and sides of whipped potato with gravy, mac n' cheese and corn muffins. I was feeling a little underwhelmed for the following reasons: 1) whipped potato was not hot and there was only a little gravy. 2) Mac n cheese did not taste cheesy and instead of creamy, the sauce was more runnier than it should be. I mean, a uni student can whip up a cheesier mac n' cheese. 3) Corn muffins were alright but I've had better from a fast food chain! Having said that, am coming back to try more to make up my mind!

I had very high expectations, places like this tend to do stylised cuisine, and do it very well. Joe's failed to meet my expectations. Here's why: Some menu items, I had the fried chicken, were excellent, the whipped potato side was ok too, but came with a very small amount of gravy. The mac and cheese was awful, very watery, undercooked pasta, which I ended up sending back and having removed from the bill. Another of my party had pulled chicken in a bun, which was cold and dry. The pulled pork was average. For a restaurant that specialises in southern food, and has a smallish menu, you'd expect every dish to be bang on, unfortunately this wasn't the case. Whilst it wasn't awful, I expected more, and would not visit the place again.

First time dining here, my bf and I opted for three courses and a cocktail for £22.50. Courses were huge! BF ordered chicken wings, he was expecting 4 max but about 10 arrived on his plate (they were great). I had the pulled pork, was excellent..mojito's were great too! Overall a nice evening out and a great bar for cocktails.

I went on a saturday night with some friends. The setting was ok, we had an absolutely lovely waitress, and a good table on the top. I had the burger which was very good, however my friend went for the mac and cheese and was definitely not what it said on the tin - very poor and spicy for her and she went hungry! Bit expensive for what it is - but I guess you're in the heart of Covent Garden. Great cocktails. I would still recommend to others.

Having only ever had drinks here i was a bit sceptical about giving the food a go but it really is worth a try! The chilli beef brisket and pulled pork are must trys as are the various cocktails! Portions are generous and filling! You will not go home hungry once you've dined here. Give it a go!

I have eaten in a number of south american restaurants. This one is ok, the decor is great, the cocktails too. However, the food was average, bit bland and again nothing special. Ok for a meal before the theatre or after a day shopping but the food is not very exciting
