KIBOU Japanese restaurant and bar in Cambridge is a chic new addition to the city, and the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner.
Located at 7a Jesus Lane, home to the Pitt Club, and formerly Pizza Express, the venue features eye-catching murals and digital animations, alongside stunning Japanese floral and foliage installations.
Light and airy, The Mirror Room centres around a large Japanese cherry blossom tree, whilst the seductive Oak Room focuses on a large wisteria tree set against a backdrop of plush fabrics and artwork.
There’s also a relaxed cocktail lounge and dining area, featuring an open sushi and hot kitchen, and a standalone spirits and cocktail bar.
The menu has all your favourite dishes from Japan, including steaming bowls of ramen, a selection of bao buns, crisp tempura and handmade spiced pork gyoza, plus work of art sushi and sashimi sharing platters, seasonal specials and A5 Grade Japanese wagyu.
Their Japanese-inspired afternoon tea is a must try too!

Teishoku is a traditional Japanese set meal comprising of a: Main plate + Sides + Rice + Soup At KIBOU, our lunchtime Teishoko menu includes classics such as prawn tempura, chicken teriyaki or veggie katsu curry. Served with a bowl of furikake rice, edamame beans, pickles, yamagoyaki (Japanese omelette), goma wakame, and a bowl of homemade miso soup. Really good place, really nice food; one item wasn’t to our taste however that could’ve just been a preference thing. Waitress was great, friendly & attentive. Cocktails were absolutely delicious and the restaurant itself is beautiful.

I had the most incredible dining experience at Kibou in Cambridge! From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the stunning decor – a perfect blend of elegance and charm that sets the ideal ambiance for a memorable meal. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Very finely cooked dishes, we mainly had sharing plates and the raw scallops were to die for. Young waitress Bea was superb, great advice and so attentive. Atmosphere could maybe have been improved with more appropriate Japanese music instead of the standard pop which at times was too noisy. Visiting Cambridge and will definitely seek out other Kibou restaurants elsewhere.

We went with our teens for my husbands birthday. We were sat in the panelled room( old reading library) at the back. Our teens loved the animated murals and decoration. Architect husband liked the ambience of the room. Food was excellent, as was the service, price as to be expected for the food quality.

Had the Lantern roll and the Chefs 7 and they were excellent. The place is gorgeous, the staff are lovely and the food is amazing.

Had a fabulous weekday lunch here. Wonderful cocktails and the best aubergine I have ever had! One of the courses wasn’t quite as I hoped and the service from the team to address it was outstanding. Would thoroughly recommend and look forward to a return visit very soon.

The food was really enjoyable, however the time it took for the food and particularly the drinks to be served was very disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend and unfortunately wouldn’t visit again.
