   Called in when visiting the area. The welcome was lovely and the whole feel of the place was friendly. The roast beef was very good and my husbands pie was excellent Staff and service very good

   I have to give two reports because my wife and I had different experiences. The service was very good and the staff attentive and efficient. That is the good news. My meal of Roast pork and the usual extras was very disappointing being very fatty and absolutely swimming in gravy: there was at least three times the amount that should be on the dish. My wife's dish was Roast Chicken which she said was OK. My pudding of profiteroles was again disappointing being hard pastry and a minimum of sloppy filling with barely any sauce. We will not be going back.

   We went for Sunday lunch, being regularly visitors to the pub when we visit at least 3 times a year, the service to the table was good slow initially but it got better. However the roast was served with too much gravy, so much so it spilt over the plate when the waitress brought our plates and fell onto my sleeve and the side of the dress. I asked the waitress for a cloth which she provided but there disappointingly no apology at all. Almost dismissive of the problem. She couldn't understand how it happened even when I explained - we ask that she could reduce the bill slightly, she too off the cost of one beer - £3.70 to cover the dry cleaning!!! It was also a good thing that I wasn't going anywhere too important after lunch. It was such a shame to have the meal spoilt by the sheer dismissal by the staff. The food was good but with that attitude I don't think we would return.

   Booked a table for lunch. Great value lunch menu which included a drink. Staff lovely and food very good. Would definitely recommend.

   Had the lamb rump which was very succulent and tender. Plenty of green vegetables, but could have done with a larger helping of potato which was rather lacking.

   Really welcoming atmosphere, with kind, responsive and professional staff. Beautiful decor and seating. What was disappointing was the food (roast lunch), with meat that was tough (unable to cut or chew it), which was inedible. The roast carrot was almost completely raw, as was the cabbage. The roast potatoes and gravy were delicious! The staff were very good at responding to the concerns we raised, and alternative meat was offered, which was really good. The substitute meat was cold and dry, but we didn't flag that, as we just wanted to conclude the meal and enjoy other elements of the visit. For nearly £20 a head, less than half could be eaten, so it felt disappointing. Drinks are really pricey too. I probably won't be choosing the Kings Head as a place to eat, in favour of other similar eateries in the locality. But the staff really were excellent and it is a beautiful pub.

   Fantastic meal, Service was the perfect mix of being attentive but not too pushy or rushing us through. Food was amazing quality, hot, tasty and very good portion sizes. The children's meals were plenty big enough, even for my very hungry 10yr old, who often has to have an adult meal to fill him up! We all enjoyed our evening to celebrate the last night of our family holiday. The quiet and relaxed atmosphere allowed us to talk about our favourite bits of our holiday whilst we enjoyed our meal. Would highly recommend The Kings Head for some top quality food, amazing variety of dishes, beautifully prepared and served with a smile, what more could you need!

    Lovely welcome, friendly staff. Received food in good time which was nicely presented. Ploughman’s was extremely good with different cheeses given in lieu of ham. Crispy beef very flavoursome and top marks for the perfect poached egg which was part of the mushroom brochetta. Toilets very clean as was bar and restaurant and outside area.
