Always a great stop. Probably the best high end sushi place in DC. Vibes are VERY Miami like. If you’re considering SHoTo, do yourself a favor and come here.

This spectacle of design carved into the foundations of old Georgetown is a winner in multiple ways. First it offers wonderful, creative Japanese food, gorgeously presented. It has a marvelous array of sakes both by the bottle and flask ( try the red star!). And it is a beautiful space with a great vibe. Wow! Only question is how to order- kind of confusing. Get help from the wait staff.

This was my second experience at Kyojin and my perception from the first time didn't change. The food is outstanding, if a bit pretentious (gold leaf, come on. Just give me real food) The freshest fish, amazing sushi rice and LOTS of options. We ordered the monkfish 'tower'. For $25, I was expecting more than two bites. On the other hand, my friend got the Chirashi bowl for $58. There was easily $100 worth of sashimi on the bowl. It was very large. My sushi rolls were adequate for the price. As a Marylander, the real crab on top of my roll was a treat. Would I go back? After going two times in 7 months, probably not anytime soon. Would I send other people there? Sure!!

I was excited to try this restaurant during Restaurant Week, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. Despite spending over $200, we left hungry and ended up needing to get more food elsewhere afterward. The service was painfully slow, with long gaps between courses. To make matters worse, the courses were served out of order, which completely disrupted the dining experience. The restaurant also ran out of multiple items that we had already ordered, leaving us scrambling to make substitutions that didn’t meet our expectations. Overall, the experience was very underwhelming. For the price point, I expected much more—better organization, attentive service, and portions that didn’t leave us feeling like we’d been short-changed. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place and won’t be returning anytime soon.
