I’m writing to express my disappointment with the service I received during my visit to La Mar on Sunday, January 26. While I was looking forward to an enjoyable dining experience, several issues left me dissatisfied. Firstly, our server delayed bringing out our food until we reached out, despite the significant wait. During this time, we noticed the server chatting with coworkers instead of attending to our table. When we inquired, the server claimed they were waiting for us to finish the appetizer, even though our bowls had been empty for some time. Additionally, food was served over my baby’s head, which felt careless and unsafe. Despite mentioning in our reservation comments that we would need extra space, this request was not accommodated, making the meal uncomfortable for everyone. To add to the frustration, we were asked to pay a mandatory 20% tip despite the subpar service. While I understand gratuities are often added for larger tables, the level of service we received did not merit this. These issues significantly impacted our overall experience. I hope you can address this feedback to improve the service for future patrons. I would appreciate a response regarding this matter and an explanation of how La Mar plans to ensure a better experience moving forward.

Delicious food accompanied by top notch service. Our waiter, Sebastián Sánchez, dutifully explained each item on the menu and offered very good suggestions. Dishes were beautifully presented and we enjoyed every bite. Pricing is definitely oriented towards the expense account crowd, but the restaurant made for a good treat.

Very good food though one seviche tastes Ike any other more or less, heavy on the lime and red onion. No need to get seviche and tiradito plates as a result, they’re pretty much the same. Good grilled whole fish “for 1 -2” but at $109 that’s a new price point! They don’t push the booze which is good to see. Waitress very pushy in food quantities to the extent of insistence we needed more plates ($54 halibut suggestion ordered) resulting in inevitable overordered table, doggie bags and a $500 tab for 3 without wine. We would go back, but order differently and not allow the waitress to dominate the order.

This was my wife and my first time visiting La Mar in Bellevue, but we have been to the original La Mar in Lima, Peru before. Our experience at La Mar Bellevue was outstanding. The decor, ambience, utensils were all impeccable, modern and pristine. If you have visited Peru, you will feel that you’re in Peru. If you have never been, then you will immediately notice the upscale but relaxed nature of this restaurant. The staff was incredibly welcoming and constantly responsive to meet the needs of the customer. The food was out of this world, the fish used in the ceviche creations is ‘melt in your mouth’ tender and the flavors, a mix of traditional and creatively modern. We tried the veal heart anticuchos and strongly recommend, very delicate and tender, no gaminess at all. The grilled octopus was smoky, tender and juicy. All accompanied by one the best potatoes we have ever had. Pisco sour, in any of the offerings, is a must. The prices in the menu are consistent with high quality offerings and by all means reflect the value of the meal. Lastly, a special thank you to Chef Victoriano Lopez for greeting us at our table and graciously posing with us for a memorable picture. Cheers!

Great experience. Was under staffed which meant slow service to start the meal. Once that we got drinks things came into place
