   Not usually one to write reviews, but I felt compelled to by the absolutely outstanding dinner my partner and I had last night for Valentines. I had the scallops to start followed by the venison for main - one word, unbelievable. My partner had the Carbonara to start followed by the Guinea fowl. - both, she said, were incredible. To top it all off we enjoyed some complimentary homemade breads, an Amuse-bouche and some beautiful homemade chocolates. Incredible food complimented by an amazing service, and ambience. Both of us are non drinkers and so it was nice to see some mocktail options on the menu as well! Genuinely couldn’t recommend more. We’re already planning our next visit, just wish we had room for desert as well! - next time!

   Very pleasant evening, a seafood-oriented menu with a delicious scallop starter the highlight. Nice service and reasonably priced wine.

   Started off great lovely welcome on arrival. While it was quieter the staff were really attentive. Starters and amouse bouche were lovely. Main courses were not hot and when mentioned to server they never came back! Plates were cleared and staff never came back to offer desserts menus or further drinks even though other tables who arrived later than us were so we asked for the bill and left. Such a shame it ended disappointingly as it was a very rare date night. It just felt as the restaurant got busier the staff lost track a bit.

   Fantastic restaurant, with a constantly changing and enticing menu. I wanted to have multiple things the night we visited, but I settled for the scallops with belly of pork, and the Guinea Fowl for a main. Both were excellent. My partner had the lemon sole which was also amazing. Dishes are prepared with care and packed full of delightful flavours. Having been visiting for over 15 years, can definitely say that the Landgate Bistro is one of the culinary highlights of Rye.

   We had a lovely meal in the Landgate Bistro as usual. The service is always superb and the food is delicious. Highly recommended.

   The food was top quality but the whole evening was spoilt by a large group of dinners who were very loud all evening and ruined what should have been an intermate birthday dinner. The nose level was so load we could not even hear the background music. Well need to check next time we book.

    We decided to try the Landgate again after many years. The chef obviously knows his/her stuff and has some good flavour combinations, although could think a little more about textures, e.g. the braised cuttlefish was delicious but needed something with more bite to contrast with the softness. The guinea fowl was well judged, although our plate did not look the same as others which were served. The sea bass was the smallest piece of fish I think I have had for a main course and was overcooked. Portion sizes vary wildly depending on which main you choose (he Lamb 3 ways seemed a large plate of food). The poached pear dish was excellent. Service was attentive and it was a welcome gesture to remove voluntarily the sea bass from the bill - clearly, something had gone wrong somewhere down the line. It happens. I get the impression that you can have a really good meal if you happen to order the right dishes. As it was, my partner’s experience was good, mine OK.
