   The grounds of the resort could use some maintenance. But the inside of the building is beautiful. The restaurant has a nice quiet romantic ambiance. I would say it’s fine dining. It was very quick service and extremely tasteful dinner. The servers were friendly and efficient.

   We found out about Nomi in a local newspaper so had no idea of what to expect. It turned out to me lovely. The food was very good and the ambiance was lovely. The only complaint I had was how far away it was. We were staying in Minden Ontario and the Resort is in Harcourt which is about an hour and fifteen minutes away. The drive was very pretty but coming home in the dark on very curvy roads was not so good. I think it would have been great to stay overnight.

   Our dinner was amazing! Different flavours, creative presentation. Menu offerings were varied and each of our party of 4 loved their selections. Restaurant furnishings were urban modern and comfortable. Hugo was fun, kind and attentive. Exterior leading to entrance could be aesthetically improved in keeping with the interior improvements that have been made.

   Chef Hugo has easily the best restaurant within 100km in any direction. From thoughtfully sourced ingredients to modern cooking methods, this is truly a fine dining experience. It was also suitable for two kids. The rest of the resort is under development but 8Fifty is fully ready and should be discovered by everyone east of Algonquin. (Tip: go for lunch and have the Beet Tartar, not always included at dinner because it’s too labor intensive for a busy service. A beautiful dish!)

   Four of us went to this restaurant for lunch. On average, it was good. The really disapointment was the short ribs. For the price of $28.00, I would have expected at least a meal. Instead we received one sparerib cut into six pieces and absolutly nothing else for lunch. The pasta was very good and the beet salad was so so. The person who had the gluten free lunch was pleased. Also the soup was veery good. The question would be, will we return and the answer has to be a resounding NO.

   As cottagers in the area, Naomi’s Lands850 is a great place to go for a bit of luxury and a delicious meal. We’ve had several meals there and have never been disappointed. Chef Hugo has developed a delicious and creative menu, and meals are presented with an artistic flair. Chef Hugo greets diners personally and, when he has time, visits your table for a very pleasant chat, and ensures you are happy with your meals. He enjoys sharing updates on the progress of the resort, which is continuing to build. Our server, Miranda, is a most gracious and pleasant young lady who serves diners efficiently and goes above and beyond to ensure we have all we need. She genuinely wants to make sure that we have an enjoyable experience. I recommend this restaurant to all people in the area.

    We took my mum here for her birthday dinner last night and it was absolutely incredible! Everything we ate exceeded our expectations. Hugo is an amazing executive chef and everything we tried was extraordinary. My mum’s steak was one of the best steaks I’ve ever tried and the fries were the best we’ve ever had in our lives. I’m celiac and there were already plenty of options on the menu for me, but Hugo said that he could accommodate even more. I ended up starting with the French onion soup (with gluten free toast) and then chicken and mushroom Alfredo (with brown rice pasta). My boyfriend had the curry dish. Everything was amazing!!! When the bread basket came out, Hugo brought out some cucumbers and amazing beet dip for me since I’m unable to eat bread! Everything was fresh, local and incredible. The wine was lovely, my mum’s cocktail was unbelievable, and we finished with a chocolate fondue with fruit and cranberry bread pudding which was a perfect ending. Our server Miranda was incredible giving us great recommendations (even though you can’t go wrong with anything you order here)! We met the wonderful owner Alise at the end! My mum said this is the best meal she’s ever had in the Haliburton county in the 40 years she’s been coming up to the cottage. We’re from Toronto so we have lots of restaurant choices, but this truly was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. I can’t wait to eat my leftovers later today haha!!! Also, thank you Hugo for the tour of the spa after dinner! We can’t wait to come back to eat, but also to try the spa!!!
