About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals
  • Innovative
The Late August name derives from the joyful time of year when the Sears catalog would arrive at your doorstep, bringing a deep desire and wonderment to all who would receive it and begin feverishly circling the items that would hopefully arrive for Christmas.

Our restaurant, set in the previous Historic Downtown Sears building, seeks to bring that same wonder to guests through its atmosphere, service, and cuisine. Echoing the mission of Lucille's Hospitality, which is committed to “Serving the Past, Feeding the Future,” Late August’s menu explores the culinary heritages of Chef Chris Williams and Chef Sergio Hidalgo by bringing the dishes and flavors from both their youths and the experiences to date creating a culturally culinary celebration.

On Saturday night, March 8 we had an amazing experience to be guests at Late August restaurant. We had high enough expectations based on their reviews, Michelin recommended status and some research. We were very intrigued (in a good way of course) with the uniqueness of the cuisine, ambience, warmness of your team. Danny, a general manager and a sommelier were simply outstanding recommending certain main dishes. If you adventure to come for dinner to this place please consider a whole fish. It is outstanding. All appetizers will surprise you with some unusual taste combination. Our dinner was magnificent. We definitely will be back. Thank you for making our date night so special.

This restaurant is an OVERLOOKED sensation. We are still working through the Houston Michelin recommendations and this was one that deserves 1 star for sure. Did I mention, world class? Did I mention STELLAR food and service? Houstonians get out of your comfort zone and try this place and business travelers and visitors to the city of Houston - you will be happy you went. The drummettes were so tender the meat fell off the bone. The crispy octopus was the BEST I have ever had and I have been around the world. You can taste the FARM to TABLE dedication in the tomato salad and that dressing should be bottled and sold! The combination of flavors in the charred brussels was delightful and the brussels were cooked to perfection. The fish was fresh and presented beautifully. MAKE SURE you save room for dessert. Navajo donuts are their take on zeppole, and a decadent treat. The rice pudding brulee makes crème brulee look like a lame cousin. GO HERE NOW!

Phenomenal food, beautiful atmosphere, and excellent service from a staff who takes pride in where they work and and the food they serve. Fresh vegetables from their own garden, unique cocktails that are well formulated, and really one of a kind dishes that were all fantastic. Everything on the menu is great. I can’t wait to go back!

Late August is a hidden gem in Houston's dining scene. Chris Williams team is providing an outstanding experience. Both the preparation and presentation of the food are excellent. The only drawback is that the noise level which can be quite loud.
