   I recently dined at Latitude 28 and was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience! The ambiance was vibrant and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a delightful meal. Our server, Melina, truly elevated the experience with her exceptional service—she was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Melina made great recommendations that perfectly complemented our tastes, ensuring we had a memorable dining experience. The food was delicious, and the combination of flavors was nothing short of spectacular. I can't wait to return to Latitude 28 for another wonderful evening!

   I hesitate to leave this review because it’s under Latitude 28 but I thought that is what we were going to experience. My family and I went to the JW Marriott in Clearwater Beach for Christmas Brunch earlier this week. When I booked the reservation my understanding is that we would be dining at Latitude 28, however upon arrival for our 11:30am they placed us in a banquet/conference room on the 8th floor. Honestly I felt like I was at a business meeting or corporate training which was disappointing to say the least. I booked the reservation as I wanted a nice meal with some ambience from the beautiful restaurant with Christmas decor and views of the Gulf. After waiting in line to be seated we were asked to pay immediately for our brunch. We were then asked whether we would like all you can drink mimosas and Bloody Mary’s for an additional $24 plus taxes and gratuity. Being Christmas Day I didn’t make a fuss about it because I wanted my family and I to enjoy the day. For $75 plus tax and gratuity we were able to dine at the buffet which was outside the banquet room and did have windows with natural light coming in. For another $24 plus tax and gratuity you were able to enjoy bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys. The spread was good but not great compared to other brunch buffets I’ve been to (Oystercatchers). For what was offered I think either the pricing should’ve been lowered or the drinks included in the $75 fee. Having said all of that, the service that we did receive from the staff in the banquet room was excellent. They constantly checked on us to refill our coffee, waters, and remove dirty plates. The other pro was that our parking was validated with our meal which is $45 to valet. I checked the information again on JW Clearwater Beach website and it does reference the name of the ballroom (in small print) but the pictures show a nice buffet with views of either the pool or beach (hard to tell). The menu shows Latitude 28 so it was an assumption on my part.

   Such a great experience and different from what we usually do on Christmas. The food was delicious, the service was great and Santa and Mrs. Clause were perfect. We may have to make this a Christmas Day tradition!

   Unfortunately our meal on Christmas Eve was less than desirable. After a decent fried shrimp & calamari appetizer, we waited quite a long time for our 3 entrees. The black grouper was good but the other 2 meals, the duck and the filet special, were both undercooked. Losing her appetite for the duck after her first bite of medium raw meat, my mom asked for a bowl of the lobster bisque which was abysmal. It was a very dark color with a water consistency & no flavor. There were 2 very small pieces of what looked & tasted like imitation lobster. It was awful! The filet was undercooked and after sending it back and waiting quite some time, the new steak was lukewarm. It must have sat in the window for a bit. The dessert, coconut and mango seashell, was visually unappealing (looks like a boiled egg when you cut into it) and the flavor was blah. The restaurant wasn’t very busy and the people at the next table were complaining about the taste of their meal as we were leaving. Our server, Marissa, was great and very apologetic but because of the food, we won’t return.

   Fabio was a outstanding server. He explained all the dishes and answered all our questions. He was very personal and made us feel comfortable. I am someone that is constantly staying at the Marriott chain. Fabio we wish you the best for your future. Thanks to the chef and his team for a wonderful meal.     Our dining experience was just okay. We had a 4pm reservation and arrived on time. We were told there were no seats available but were offered outdoor dining. I declined outdoor seating, so eventually, we were seated in a large booth. 15 minutes in We were asked if we wanted to move to a more intimate booth. At first, we declined but then thought about how if a larger party came in, they would need the space. We did move to be polite. We were told our first round of drinks was on the house. Dinner was just okay. The turkey was not an actual bird. It was a round turkey loin that was dry. The smear of potatoes and gravy and the small spot of cranberry sauce. The food wasn't hot it was warmish at best. For $99 dollars, you could have provided more. We got our bill, which was 400, and they didn't even take care of the drinks like they said for the inconvenience of swapping tables. One and done for us.
