We had a great time here for Valentine’s Day and we were very impressed with the food and food quality. We would definitely come back here again for date nights.

The food here is good, but we were suprised to find a mandatory pris fix which had almost no vegetarian options (one of the reasons we decided to come) and imo was quite overpriced for the value compared to similar tiered restaurants in the city - it felt like a bit of a scam. I’ve had some great meals here but this was not the experience we were expecting so I recommend that diners be careful.

5 days before Valentine’s Day I received a call from the restaurant letting me know they were only doing a $125 per person 3 course option which included 90% of the menu. This information was not published online, on their website, their instagram, or open table. It essentially forced anyone who made a reservation for Valentine’s Day over a month in advance to cough up twice what should have been expected or miss out on going to a nice restaurant as every other place had been booked up for weeks. It was clear that many people canceled when hearing about this as it was completely booked when I originally got my reservation, which was for bar seating, but they sat us at a table and many others were open. The 3 courses were an appetizer, entree, and dinky desert.

The pricing for Valentine's Day was absurd. Pre-fixed menu of $125 dollars per person gets you one appetizer, one main course, and one dinky dessert shoe-horned in to make it seem like a better value. The main course reminded me of a can of Chunky soup. You know it's subpar when the white rice was the highlight of the meal. Didn't even want to get my usual cocktail, The Old Fashioned, because it was marked up to an absurd $26. Our dinner for two cost $450 with tip, which only included the two dinners plus three total cocktails and a very basic beer. Taxes were upwards of 14% because they taxed on the 20% forced tip. I could have could have gone to my local mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant for a quarter of the price and gotten the same quality of food. Le Colonial didn't steal my heart on Valentine's Day, they stole my wallet!!

We will never go back to Le colonial. We have been going there for years and decided to go on Valentine’s Day this year. The price was $125 per person for the exact same menu that they carry every day. The overall bill was almost $800 with a bottle of wine. That is ridiculous! The fact that they are able to charge that for a simple Valentine’s Day, that is just the same as their regular menu is shocking and embarrassing to the restaurant. We will never go there again.

The service was great and ambiance was good. The food itself did not wow either of us, especially for such a renowned establishment. The couple next to us were vocal in their level of displeasure, especially for a Valentine’s Day experience. We may try again, but the fixed menu and bland flavor profiles definitely were disappointing considering the pricing.

First of all, the food was fine. My issue was how the Valentine’s Day reservation was handled. We did not know until we arrived there that it was a mandatory prix fixe menu for 125 dollars a person. With apprehension we obliged, due to the fact our card was on file for the reservation and would have been charged. We checked the menu from previous diners, our food totaled 45 DOLLARS of value. Unless we think a small plate of dessert and an amuse-bouche total 80 dollars in value, I’m thinking we got scammed…… We went in wanting to try multiple things, left very disappointed with an upset tummy and almost 500 dollars poorer:/

Seated in the terrace in a tight corner when other tables in main area open. Chairs were flimsy catering type chairs. Uncomfortable. It was a Valentine’s Day afternoon 2 pm reservation but still. The exchanged my chair for another but that one was just as bad. I expected more from a fine dining place. Won’t be back.

Food was incredible as always. Had a waiter who was very disinterested in serving. Empty drinks (teas) never bothered to ask if we wanted new ones. Food that was ordered to go post in restaurant meal was wrapped poorly. Restaurant was not busy but never bothered to come by our table. Great good. Poor service exoerience.
