Nestled on the Los Angeles River Bike Path in the Elysian Valley, Lingua Franca, meaning “the common language,” is a place of warmth and nostalgia…the feeling of being at home. Our common language is between good food and good people. Come enjoy a sip & bite while surrounded by Egret, Great Blue Heron, and the other plethora of wildlife that inhabits the river in our front yard. We will serve New Californian American cuisine, with casual breakfast and lunch services and an elevated dinner service and happy hour daily from 4-5. We are family friendly, with booster seats, high chairs, a changing table in the bathroom, and even crayons! We hope to provide a little something for everyone here and charm you with great hospitality and food. Welcome!

Love this place so much. Sitting at the bar with a friend is a delight, you get to see what’s happening in the kitchen which is such a treat. Food and wine is outstanding and the ambience feels like home.

Burger was excellent. Everything else was so-so for the prices you pay. Service was also not great for a date night. We wanted it to be great but was a let down all things considered.

We have been to Lingua Franca several times and it is always a wonderful dining experience. This time was no exception: attentive service, great food, and a comfortable patio. Truly an LA gem!

The burger is amazing, as well as the onion salad! The staff are very sweet and super attentive. I might also mention, for those who may not have an interest in alcohol, their root beer on tap (yes, on tap…one of four places in SoCal with it on tap) is not to be missed….even if you drink, you should have it….amazing!

First time there. Made reservation for the back patio, was placed in the front against the wall close to a huge pipe which made it impossible to seat properly. Very disappointing when I discovered the back patio on my way to the restroom…

The food here is fantastic, and this is a real gem of a restaurant. The salads are really outstanding - so many complex flavors and unique combinations. The space is lovely, and the outdoor dining area is really inviting. The location along the LA River is a bonus, and makes this a wonderful spot for lunch or dinner.
