Using only freshly sourced Lancashire ingredients, including fresh seasonal vegetables, juicy steaks, fresh fish along with deliciously prepared vegetarian options, we have a menu to suit all tastes. Being right on the North Lancashire and South Cumbria border, the Longlands Inn is surrounded by farmers offering some great local specialties. Fell-bred and salt-marsh lamb, fabulous cheeses, freshly-caught fish, are then all expertly prepared and cooked by our brilliant resident chef Mark Swanton.

The hotel has recently gone through a complete refurbishment of the downstairs areas and we have created cosy drinking areas, a mixtures of high and low seating and a private dining area. The open pass from the kitchen allows guests to see our kitchen in operation and all this leads to creating a lively buzz and great atmosphere.

Warm welcome. Main meals 1 very good the other 3 average but ok for value as half price. Puddings expensive for size and quality.

Probably one of the worst Sunday Lunches we have ever had. Mushroom Souo for starters was totally thin and tasteless The Mushrooms were cold and the Pate was like mouse. The beef was tough and the roasties overcooked. The Cumberland sausage was insipid and the gravy which was supposed to be onion wasn’t

A little disappointed. Sunday menu is rather limited. On line menu was different from menu offered when we arrived. Roast beef was thin and tasteless but Fish and chips good. Very echoing surrounding, not helped by a child being chased around the tables by adults, and dogs barking in the restaurant. First visit today. Perhaps mid week might be better?

Fabulous restaurant/pub well worth a visit. Four of us dined and all had three courses which were all really tasty, well presented and served efficiently by the waiting staff. I had the Black pudding and hens egg to start which was perfectly cooked with a lovely soft egg. I then decided to go vegetarian as it sounded amazing on the menu. I chose the chargrilled miso glazed winter cabbage with a gochujang glaze. It was SOOOO tasty with the right level of flavours. The miso and honey gave a subtle sweetness while being punched heavily by the warmth of the gotchujang. I’m going to try and recreate this at home as I enjoyed it so much! The only thing I would say is that this dish was served with a basmati rice which isn’t traditional to Korean cooking. A short grain rice may have been more authentic but this no way detracted from the flavours on the plate. It was honestly THE best dish I’ve had in a long time. My dessert was the apple crumble and custard which was tasty but could have been served warmer. My friends all enjoyed their meals of patè which was beautiful and light almost mousse like but they did comment that for the amount of patè served that they needed more than one small piece of bread that came with it. The cheese soufflè was very tasty and presented well. pizza, steak burger and chicken burger were all enjoyed with no issues. For dessert they chose ice creams and enjoyed three scoops each from a very tempting list of four. We all enjoyed our experiences and will definitely be back. The food, ambience, service and cost were better than average. One thing I did notice was that a service charge of £12 was added on to the bill which the customer should be made aware of. I prefer to tip cash. I asked for this to be removed and it promptly was.

I thought the jerk chicken burger and fries very expensive tasteless and dry burger and fries horrible and they had soaked up too much oil - I won’t be rushing back
