Nestled in the heart of Wimberley Square, Longleaf Bistro is a culinary gem with a storied past. Rescued from demolition in San Marcos, our historic venue, reconstructed in 1996, echoes with the resilience of Longleaf Pine Forests that once spanned the Southeastern United States. At Longleaf, we weave exceptional quality and a sense of family into our dining experience. Our commitment to local sourcing ensures a menu rich in flavors from nearby farmers, ranchers, and Gulf Coast fishermen, embodying the spirit of Texas. We defy the pretense of fine dining, offering approachable yet elevated cuisine, complemented by craft cocktails, beer, and a well-rounded wine list. In our oak-shaded courtyard and sculpture garden, guests are welcomed into a warm, inviting atmosphere, completing a dining journey that is both memorable and rooted in the timeless charm of our historic setting.

Our waiter, London, was wonderful. He made multiply trips to the kitchen for us to answer any questions we had about the food. The Chef came out also, after I we explained my rare food allergy and he was able to make a substitution for the offending food. The lunch menu was interesting and the food itself was delicious. We had the grilled cheese sandwich and sweet potato salad. We plan to go back sample the dinner menu.

Arrived early for our reservation and were seated right away. Two of us wanted to order the poke bowl but they only had sufficient ingredients for one bowl. Had the burger and fried oysters. Food was delicious! Disappointed about the poke bowl but understandable since it was Market Day weekend. We will be back!

Enjoyed a very nice dinner here with my wife. This place does everything right - from the friendly & knowledgeable hostess who gave us excellent recommendations, the mocktails, the appetizers, entrees, desserts & service. It was all very good. Will definitely dine there again.

We went this past Saturday (2/15) and they were offering a prefix menu. I am not normally a fan of these, and was a little disappointed not to see the full menu. (This means we have to return, which is a good thing! Spoiler for the rest of the review....) The menu was great, and the food was excellent. Our waitress was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable and recommended a great local bourbon to me. We will be back, and suggest you give Longleaf a try! You will love it.

We happened upon the Valentine’s Day menu which was apparently a smaller version of their regular menu. My husband got the chocolate Manhattan which was not nearly as sweet as he was afraid it would be- it was just a hint of chocolate. Perfect. We shared the fried olives, which are crave worthy. The Valentine’s Day entree was duck in a cherry port reduction with a chive mashed potato cake and spiraled zucchini. The duck was perfect, the sauce was divine. (Potatoes and zucchini are hard to mess up but were delicious. My husband got the steak which arrived perfectly medium rare, as ordered. His sides were asparagus and a potato dish as well. All yummy. We had no room for dessert. If we are in this neck of the woods again, we will definitely come back.

Delicious food and very good service. The only bummer for us was that they were out of the lasagna.

Really wanted to love this place because of the great reviews but maybe their lunch isn’t as great as their dinner. Lunch was a limited menu…the vegetarian lasagna was good but it wasn’t hot when it was served and my husband got deviled eggs with oysters and he couldn’t eat the oysters. Our waiter was good but she told us the wrong soup of the day and brought out something we didn’t really want. She offered to remove from the bill but when the bill came it was still on there.

This place was a very pleasant surprise. On the square in Wimberley we were expecting Homestyle cooking BUT boy were we wrong. We were greeted by Chef Robert at the door and welcomed right away, he discussed some of the specials and made a few recommendations. Service was great and our server Atlas was spot on. We started with their Hangtown Deviled Eggs which were amazing, I had the last order of blackened red snapper over red beans and rice, my wife had the stuffed quail. So to say this was as far from homestyle cooking as you could get is an understatement, it will definitely be on our list next time we are in the area.
