   Three of us met for lunch there today and had a perfect experience. I got the Yardbird, 1/4 fried chicken (I chose white meat) and it was some of the best fried chicken I have had in recent memory. It came with collard greens and mashed potatoes, both of which were great, although the potatoes were a bit dry. A friend got chicken and waffle with same fried chicken on a good looking waffle. The other got the bacon-cheeseburger with ground and braised beef. It looked totally awesome with hand cut fries. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Our server was attentive and checked on us a couple of times without being intrusive. I would strongly recommend this restauarant!

   Great place to bring out of state visitors. We had the hot rolls, biscuits, oxtail omelette and tamales. Didn’t think the hot rolls were all that great, would be open to trying the cornbread next time.

   Love this place! The service was slow but just a mix up and once the server was chosen the service was great! The food was fantastic and so were the drinks. The shrimp and grits and friend green tomatoes were so good! The oxtail omelette is a must, truly unique and wonderful!

   I’ve been here for brunch a couple times and had a great experience. But I don’t think I’ll be back for a meal. We came for dinner. It took about 30 minutes for someone to come take our order. The menu was pretty limited (which I didn’t recall from brunch). Some of the menu items were out, which was frustrating. One order of chili biscuits wasn’t fully cooked (as evidenced by the next batch that came out looking golden brown, rather than a raw dough color.) I ended up ordering the pork shank, which was actually pretty tasty, but it didn’t look very appetizing at all. It was a huge portion and flavored well, but I came in a some sort of soup that was a bit confusing.

   My colleagues and i are in Houston on business this week and thought it would be awesome to check out Lucille's. We ran into a lot of traffic and missed our reservation by probably thirty minutes. While we did have to wait for a little while (10 minutes or so), the hostess did her best to get us seated as soon as possible and even checked on us to make sure we were hving a great time. Our waitress, Linda, was also great. She made recommendations and just had a delightful personality. kudos to having a historic and well-maintained establishment with food to absolutely die for!

   Very disappointing experience, first we started off with Truffle Brussel Sprouts and Cornbread. Brussel Sprouts tasted very bland, no truffle flavor at all, the egg whites were undercooked on top while the bottom was burnt to a crisp. Cornbread was okay but not great. As for our entrees I ordered the pork shank and the outside of the pork was very dry and room temp. Our waiter (Francine I believe) was the only positive of this experience. She was really attentive and even switched out my entree after I said I didn’t like it. The food quality was not her fault at all but she did give us amazing service and was very attentive. Overall we expected more out of the food especially at the price point. Seemed like the hype is bigger than the flavor here.
