   We had a lovely dinner at Mallard last night. The food was outstanding, very creative, very tasty. My wife started with an appetizer of Sea Island pea dip with duck-fat saltines that she loved, and I had Spanish ham with pickled watermelon rind that was terrific. For her main course, my wife had Pekin duck, and I had fried sweetbreads on a waffle with bacon marmelade, and foie gras added in. We both loved our main dishes, and are looking forward to eating the left-overs we brought home. The restaurant was noisy, but not in a way that made conversation difficult. Service was attentive if sometimes a bit slow, understandably, because the place was very busy. When I didn't care for the cocktail I had ordered, our server quickly offered me the possibility of choosing another, so i ended up satisfied. As we left, my wife told our server that she would tell her friends about Mallard. We will definitely be coming back!

   These folks were great and can cook a duck. The meal started with a little parsnip taste from the kitchen with a black truffle and some sort of cream. We followed that with duck wings that were awesome and then had some of the Brussels that came on the foie Gras…awesome. The thing that really stood out though was the fry in the duck breast. They somehow got the fat rendered and kept the meat moist with getting a hard fry on the breading. Yum. The cigarettes and chocolate dessert was also great. Don’t normally leave reviews but this place has some tasty bites right now.

   Great way to celebrate New Year’s eve. ! The prefix menu was great ! The only thing was they run out of 2 of the specials … but food still was pretty good 😊 and git a complementary dish for the inconvenience! 109 % recommended!

   The service is excellent and the food is absolutely delicious! This may be my favorite restaurant in the DMV area. I highly recommend the Mallard.

   Fantastic experience. The food was incredible, typically I would not eat duck but Chef Hamilton is a magician! The tuna appetizer was so good I wish I could have ordered a second for dessert. Pork cheeks were tender and perfectly seasoned. Cannot wait to visit again. Our server Krystal was very sweet and attentive. The restaurant was comfortable and cozy. My favorite meal of the year!

   This place is a keeper. The food is seriously good and the chef is seriously talented. Fine people working there. Good prices for DC. Always leave full and happy (and buzzed haha). Tried the shrimp and grits for the first time tonight and it was phenomenal. Beer list is A+.

   Like many I read the recent Washington Post review and was intrigued. We were going to a play at nearby Studio Theater and this really worked well. Wonderful experience! Loved the decor. The service was outstanding. It just felt very comfortable. Excellent draft beer choices and the food was great. I don’t think you can make a bad choice. Yes, the duck, and the Brussels sprouts. Dessert was great too. Can’t wait to try again.

   This was our second time in a week. The food is outstanding, as the service--very friendly, quiet, helpful, knowledgeable. The ambience is lovely. They have retained the decor of Birch and Barley, which is great. The lighting is lovely, warm and low, but bright enough to read. All in all, a great experience. Neighborhood favorite.

   It was a beautiful amber ambiance as we entered Mallard. Beautifully done decor, warm reception, terrific service. And what a great menu - not lengthy but just right and every dish we ordered was great. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. What a neighborhood gem - we will return and enthusiastically recommend it.

    Great experience!!! People come for the duck, but the catfish was the perfect level of flavor and spice!! Great cocktails too
