Margaret is a neighbourhood restaurant at its core, but it’s also evolved into something more than that. It’s about comfort, generosity, and cosiness.
At Margaret, we work with the best quality produce that Australia has to offer. Chef Neil Perry AM has spent years developing relationships with some of the best suppliers in the country. We are predominantly a seafood restaurant and are very fortunate to receive our seafood direct from our fishermen, caught sustainably and dry filleted here onsite at Margaret, so we can ensure that all that love and care our wonderful fisherman have taken is seen all the way through. The food is amazing but this time the service was questionable upon check-in when we were told to wait because they weren't open at one minute to six o'clock! Also we had booked al fresco table but were told that there was only main dining inside available. Luckily they found us a table after I insisted as we had booked three months ago for an outside table. There was also a glitch with the bill which was now surcharged 10% for a Sunday which we were not aware of. Overall, the food never ceases to amaze, but the service could be a little more obliging this time.

We've been coming here for years and we genuinely do enjoy the food, service and ambience. However this year, although the share plates were excellent as usual, the fish dishes which came out were just missing the mark - either fishy, or actually raw (when they weren't meant to be, we do love our raw fish but not when you're biting into a fillet of hapuka or a kid's crumbed fish). I do hope that it was just a one off as it's such a gorgeous place to have a lunch.

Had an exceptional experience at this restaurant, the welcoming staff , did their best to get us seated as they were running a lil late .. The waiter Matt, was very informative and friendly and offered us the special we couldn’t resist .. the food and drinks were 100%.. overhaul amazing venue …

Loved the vibe, the food and the drinks. King G Whitting definitely stole the highlight for me. The 300g wagyu Chimcurri is wonderful and cooked perfectly.

Delicious food. Amazing service- the staff was so lovely and friendly. They were so patient in explaining the dishes and knew what to recommend for different tastes buds. However, drinks were a bit too strong. Couldn’t finish them :((
