   Service is key to a restaurant, and I am so disappointed in what I used to consider a restaurant I could count on. Lunch was good enough, though the food was pretty sparse. Also several items on the menu weren't even available, from wagu beef to chicken because of a delivery truck--sure it could happen, but in light of everything else that happened, one wonders. . I chose one of their delicious looking mocktails, took a few sips, finding it oddly realistic but then realized it actually had liquor in it. This is a drink that is listed in its own "cocktail" section of the menu so not something I ordered specifically without liquor. They apologized (!) and asked if I wanted an actual mocktail (I did) and delivered one. I kept think about if I were a recovering alcoholic or someone with a medical condition who couldn't have alcohol, how tragic this "mistake" could have been. This "mistake" is a huge one. Following that, my coffee was delivered in a cup with a chip on its rim--asked for change rather than have a cut lip), and we had to wave down the waitstaff to take our bill after we put our money in the folder and waited and waited and waited. Oh, my mocktail--at $14.00--wasn't comped; my coffee wasn't comped. So unacceptable, given all the competition in Charlotte. And the three, 2x1 pieces of excellent cod on 2 teaspoons of ordinary mashed potato (couldn't taste the garlic that was supposed to be in the smash) and a teeny piece of beet on each, with a smear of beet on the plate does not impress me as a $22 lunch--at least not one I've had in comparable places in larger cities. Just sayin a couple pieces of chopped arugula or beet greens would have even been appreciated,

   The food is extremely over priced. When we moved around in or chairs we bumped the tables so close around. We had to order a salad and all it was included a hand full of arugula and peanuts for 13.99. This was a very small bowl.

   Mariposa is easily on equal footing with Albertine, Barringtons, Supperland, Pepperdine and a few others in the Charlotte region. It is also one of the most beautiful restaurants in our city. The paella is the best Charlotte offers.

   Lovely ambience, very cozy. Server was exceptional! Food was good. Probably best holiday mint cocktail ever!

   Our first time at Mariposa was very good. The atmosphere and service were excellent. Our waitress was very patient in explaining the unique menu. The food was presented well. There is a lot of variation in the large sharable dish portion sizes so we had plenty of one dish and not enough of others, so we’ll chalk that up to inexperience. We would dine there again. The location to events at Knight and the Bechtler is unbeatable.

   We made a reservation for what we thought was going to be live Jazz brunch but they just had some elevator music playing so that was a total bummer. Our server was not overly knowledgeable about the food only that several items on the menu were “really good.“ I’m shocked when a restaurant that appears to be high-end has employees walking around spraying tables with some sort of chemical cleaner and wiping them off while you sit and eat your food next to them. To me, that gives Burger King vibes. Not awful by any means, but we will not be back.

   We did Sunday Brunch before a Panther’s game. Very nice selection of drinks, mocktails, and brunch items. I got the Lomo Saltido (SP?). Added the egg for $2 more. So much flavor and a slow heat build up as I ate. My wife got the avocado toast. The poached egg great and the balsamic drizzle on toast was a fantastic addition. My daughter got the pancakes. Wow. So fluffy and the black berries and blue berries were so good.

    Went there after visiting the Mint Museum, food was great and worth the moderate wait time. It was a nice lounge and very energetic.
