Discovering Italy by way of La Jolla, Marisi focuses on Italian hearth cooking with an emphasis on handmade pastas, fine wine and classic cocktails. The menu celebrates the rich diversity of cuisine from across Italy, fashioned in a time-honored tradition of handmade all day, every day. A dream that lives between the Italian and La Jolla coasts, suspended between tides instead of time — a mood more than a plot. A visit that feels a lot like coming home, if home was a warm, charming villa off the Amalfi coast. Marisi is a taste of something you want to remember. We hope you love it.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Chef Cameron Ingle

From the OpenTable editors: This dainty Italian restaurant is a La Jolla newcomer, but it’s already made an impression thanks to standout farm-to-table fare from executive chef Cameron Ingle (of Bouchon Bistro and Bestia fame). Toast with vermouth before digging into winners like filet mignon with mascarpone and bite-sized agnolotti.

This was a very expensive experience for food that had absolutely zero flavor. Very disappointed and I had brought a good friend for a celebration! The waiter was very sweet, but obviously had too many tables as wanted to drink our champagne with our food so we had to wait quite a bit! Unfortunately, won’t be going back but definitely the restaurant is beautiful.

Our family dined here and found the experience underwhelming. The menu is limited, and nothing stood out. We tried the whole fish, which had a lot of bones, making it difficult to eat—especially in the dim lighting. The short rib pasta was good but a bit salty. For dessert, we ordered the donuts, which had a burnt taste, possibly from the oil or cooking method. I mentioned it to the waiter, who said he would inform the chef but still left it on the bill. Overall, this was a one-and-done experience for us.

Nice little place for brunch. The cocktails were tasty, I recommend the Marisi spritz. The food was delicious. We had the Italian dip sandwich and the carbonara. They were sadly out of the cinnamon roll, which was one of the reasons we came here. Parking and traffic was tough on a Saturday afternoon, so get here early.

Our neighbors recommended Marisi so we made a point to go. The staff was amazing the ambiance was great. Our food was ok. The beet salad was really good the focaccia was also good. The scallops (3) were good but not a lot to it for the price. The rigatoni tasted like al dente pasta with tomato soup (sorry but being honest). We brought our own bottle of wine which they decanted for us ($35) and that was nice. My husband’s $23 dirty martini was no different than most. We may go back to try something else but left a little bit disappointed.
