Review summary

Marseille offers a delightful taste of France in NYC's theater district. Guests rave about the "wonderfully soft" pain Perdue, "excellent" fish dishes, and "heavenly" onion soup. The "attentive and professional" service and vibrant ambiance make it a "go-to choice" for pre-theater dining. Don't miss the oyster happy hour!

We love Marseille and dine there often. The proximity to Port Authority Bus Station makes this an ideal spot when my friend from NJ is coming in jut for dinner. Last night was great- we had a quiet table- at my request- and were able to sit and enjoy our wine and dinner while having the time to catch up with each other. The wine list is really excellent- including many great choices that are not "break the bank" splurges- although they are there too! We both had the mussels which were perfectly cooked and dedlicous. Never disappoints!

I was expecting something else. I did have a late lunch, which might explain why they were out of steak frites, steak tartare, etc. but my consolation quinoa salad did not console me much. While flavorful, I prepare better and nicer looking quinoa salads at home. Didn’t risk dessert. It might be good, but I decided to cross the street to try a well-ranked cafe instead. The server was great. He rescued the whole experience. I took one star off because they kept sweeping next to me as I ate, and the person changing the paper table mats hit me with the paper on passing and left me with a small paper cut. Maybe just wait for dinner? The menu looks a lot better.

Always amazing, best place to dine before or after the theater. The bottomless brunch, best in town! Service, food, atmosphere, such a wonderful neighborhood gem. Try the burger, steak frites, waffles, everything is great! We will be back.

Well located for pre and post theater brunch and dinner. Attractive and comfortable environment. Pleasant and professional service. The food was nicely plated, and basic. But recommended for the location, service and general vibe.

Dinner at Marseille is a must whenever I go to New York. The food, drinks, and service are excellent. The tuna tartare is the best, and the bartender is terrific!

3rd time eating at Marseille pre theater and it was once again excellent. Love the food, great friendly service and delightful ambiance. The bread is brought warm and crusty with sweet butter and olive oil. I had the porcini mushrooms on creamy polenta to start and hubby had French onion soup. Both delicious and not overly salty. Main hubby had the monkfish bouillabaisse. It was full of fresh shrimp, mussels and large pieces of fish. Broth was excellent. I had the roti poulet and substituted mashed potatoes for the creamy polenta (since that was my started) The chicken was served on a bed of wilted greens. It was so tender that I barely needed a butter knife. Dessert we shared a crème brûlée topped with berries and we each had decaf. Marseille is our go to when we are in the theater district, they are consistently delicious!

Very consistent, as good as it was 20+ years ago when I first went there. Delicious, well prepared food. Very nice service and not at all rushed. Also good people watching. Will go back. Good standby in the theater district/Hell’s Kitchen.
