   I’m a foodie and respect good food that stands out and has you craving and coming back for more! I always say there’s a lot of nice restaurants with good food and good ambience, but the true win of a place is when you crave something at a place that you can’t get anywhere else!  besides the ambience and the place always being packed when I sit down and order and take a bite of my food. All I can think is that my soul has been awakened. to a point where I can’t ignore. Where I have to vocally say to my friends wow!! this food is so good! We are all sitting, chewing, smiling, and happy! Very rare that you can feel that! That is what I call perfection! So good!

   New to the area but have been to this restaurant 3 times already. Food is 10/10 as well as service. This place is always busy so recommend calling ahead or making a reservation.

   I visited Matt & Tony’s in Alexandria, VA, and my experience was pretty middle-of-the-road. I had a reservation for a party of three and arrived about 20 minutes early. When I checked in, I was told they would seat me closer to my reservation time. The restaurant was busy, with a group of about six waiting outside and multiple parties standing inside. To kill some time, I took a short walk to Walgreens and returned five minutes before my reservation. Upon returning, I was told they’d let me know when my table was ready. About five minutes after my scheduled time, I was offered a table for two with an extra chair since there weren’t any available tables for three. Rather than waiting longer, I agreed. We started with soy-glazed wings, mac & cheese with brisket, and tempura cauliflower & shrimp. None of these dishes stood out. The wings lacked the crunch I expected from a twice-fried preparation, and the sauce was one-dimensional—just a basic sweet soy glaze. The tempura cauliflower & shrimp could have used more seasoning, and the mac & cheese with brisket had an overly sweet barbecue sauce, overcooked pasta, and a bland cheese sauce that reminded me of boxed mac & cheese. For my entrée, I ordered a smashburger. It was decent but nothing special—I’ve had better at chain spots like Smashburger. The one highlight of the meal was the burnt honey Old Fashioned—so good I ordered a second one. Service was lacking. After bringing our appetizers, our server never returned to check on us, ask if we were ready to order entrées, or see if we needed anything else. I had to flag her down to place our entrée order, which was frustrating. Overall, Matt & Tony’s felt more like a dive bar than a dinner destination. The atmosphere was fine, but the food was just okay, and the service left a lot to be desired. If I were to return, it would be for a drink at the bar rather than a full sit-down meal. Would I recommend it? For a casual bar experience, maybe. Not a dinner reservation.

   It was just…..okay. I got the chicken and waffles, my partner got the French toast and added chicken. None of the food was “amazing”. The service wasn’t really worth it either. Not very attentive. I hate when I have to find my waiter for a refill of my drink or napkins. It was all very mediocre. For the money we paid, we should have gone somewhere else. Somewhere with better food and better service.

   Delicious cocktails, food was amazing. Scotch eggs, tempura, and French toast were top notch. Great flavor and textures. Fries with the chicken sandwich were well-seasoned. Only disappointment for me personally was the chicken was not as crispy or as flavorful as I wanted it to be. Interesting to me that they don't have a dessert menu because I feel like they would knock desserts out of the park. Regardless, I would definitely return.

    Wonderful experience celebrating a milestone birthday! Excellent customer service. Food was visually appealing and pleasing to the tastebuds. Well seasoned. Portion size was good. Will definitely return. Highly recommend!
