   Brunch today was fantastic. Our server TORI is fabulous. Music was excellent but unfortunately way too loud for the space. Impossible to talk without shouting to be heard. We love Max Oyster Bar and go regularly. Consistently excellent food and service.

   Ordered ribeye medium rare. First the cut was .5 inch thick, and it was cooked medium well and full of marbling with little eatable meat.

   Excellent service from our server, who anticipated our needs and made solid recommendations. The scallop dishes were a little overcooked (rubbery), but the stuffed lobster and appetizers were delicious. The drink menu was terrific (I didn’t drink, but my daughter enjoyed them), and creme brûlée was terrific with hot tea on the side. We arrived at 4:30pm and were greeted and seated immediately. The whole experience was amazing because of the attention we received. Thank you.

   My evening began as a sad sack because my dear friend was waylaid by a flat tire on the way to dinner. But she was safe which was really most important, and although I ate alone I was seated at the best location in the restaurant and taken care of by Josie the Extraordinary! I enjoyed the Baby Kale and Brussels Sprouts Salad. Josie suggested I add an avocado and seared salmon to the greens. I did. I so appreciate when a staff person makes recommendations about menu options. Hers was perfect. Scrumptious indeed. I noticed that the bar area seemed vibrant and busy. Josie mentioned that for the first time in four years "Happy Hour" was back at Max Oyster. That made 😊 too!

   We’ve been celebrating our special days at Max’s for many years, unfortunately for Max’s we will be looking for a new restaurant to celebrate! The service was fair at best, the food was marginal. We have always been impressed with Max’s but the last couple of visits have been a bust! Our visit Saturday was disappointing at best, our waitress although not busy treated us like she was overwhelmed, the food was that of a chain restaurant. Max’s is not an inexpensive restaurant to visit, we know that going in but we expect a little bit better!
