We arrived having booked through your web site only to find the restaurant closed to what looked like some major refurbishment. Very unprofessional and a waste of travel time. Since then I have noticed their web site is also now unavailable.

I haven't been to Mela for a while - but the menu has changed but the execution is still spot on. They have refocused their menu to offer a stronger selection but still have some of their great dishes still on offer. The dining room seems a lot warmer and brighter as well since the last one.

The food was good, with a good selection of some traditional dishes. I think overall it could be better. Coffee was instant - not ideal. Some of the facilities could be cleaner - a little run down and WC's need attention/upgrade. Disappointed as a friend said it was supposed to be good. Won't hurry back. Service was ok.

First, the picture of the restaurant on their website is totally misleading. Looks much nicer than it actually is. Service was spotty, food was -meh-, ambience nothing to write home about and the ladies' was DISGUSTING, as was the state of the downstairs "party room" that you passed on the way to the toilet. A mess, with old food on the tables and floor. We didn't become ill on the food, and it was edible, but the portions were minuscule and nothing special, flavour wise. Ugh.
