Owner Melba Wilson opened its doors for locals and travelers alike to have a pleasant dining experience with great service. Fried catfish strips, barbecue short rib sliders and spring rolls filled with black-eyed peas and collard greens make delicious appetizers before feasting on the main course. Guests can choose from entrées like Melba's popular Southern fried chicken with eggnog waffles, which was a winner on Throwdown! with Bobby Flay, as well as pan-seared sea bass and the barbecue turkey meatloaf. This restaurant also serves hamburgers, lighter fare and sides such as candied yams.

Our family of 6 visited this restaurant close to the end of our trip to NYC. I was pleasantly surprised that everything was a 10/10. The food, the service and the ambiance. I had the oxtails, greens and Mac n cheese. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the food came out quickly and was hot! My other family members tried the chicken, chicken wings, yams and we had the catfish strips as an appetizer. Yams weren’t too sweet and the greens were perfect!! Bryan our waiter was friendly and attentive!! Definitely recommend you try Melba’s!

The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive and courteous. It was my best friend's birthday and we sat at the table for a while because we had not seen each other in a while. We did get some looks but they graciously did not ask us to leave. Would highly recommend. Oh and the drinks were excellent as well!

The best soul food in NY - oxtails was great Mac and cheese on point collard greens to die for I even took a meal to go 10/10 Melba is THE Queen of Harlem ❤️

I made a reservation for 6:45pm and upon entry, I was greeted warmly and seated right away. There was only one waitress serving multiple tables. It was a Thursday night so it wasn't crowded but it was busy and it seems another waitress was needed for the amount of people in the restaurant. After about 20 minutes my order was taken and the food was brought out in a reasonable amount of time. The food was absolutely delicious and worth the wait.

The food and service was exceptional! Our order came in a timely manner and was very good. Large portions were also given, where I have enough for lunch the following day. The only issue is I live in BK and it's a little far and the congestion pricing doesn't help. It's a definite A+ I wasn't disappointed!
