   We enjoyed the Tomahawk steak!! With a big baked potato and carrots!! The Key-lime pie is to die for!! Great piano music as well. Lovely quintessential Palm Springs experience!!

   Spectacular meal and service. Jose made us feel like a member of his family. Live music in the bar after our meal was a great way to end our evening.

   Melvin’s, as always, is a must visit while in Palm Springs. The old Hollywood ambiance, excellent service, and classic food make the experience memorable. Thank you for another wonderful evening - this is what I picture a classic steakhouse to be.

    After several years of wanting to escape the rains of the Pacific Northwest, I made plans to celebrate my 60th birthday in Palm Springs with friends. Much planning went into this trip as the 3 of us live in different states across the country. I selected Melvyns as I thought it was the epitome of Palm Springs representing a beautiful historic hotel and a restaurant with great service. I made reservations well in advance notifying the restaurant that we were celebrating my birthday. When we arrived, dressed in our beautiful dresses, we were seated in a corner table near a large table. Shortly after our arrival, a large group arrived. Our drinks, bread and entrees were ordered. However, our drinks were delivered by a different person and our bread didn't come until our entrees arrived. From my seat, I could see our original server devoted all of his attention to the large table. They received several rounds of drinks and their appetizers while we waited for our bread to arrive. As the large table received more drinks, the noise level increased to the point of us needing to raise our voices at our own table to hear each other. The server was slow to return to our table to check on us. When he finally returned, we asked our server for the check, my friend mentioned it was my birthday. Note that we saw another party receive dessert and the staff sang Happy Birthday. While this wasn't an expectation, a little extra care would have been appreciated. While we were still waiting for the check, the felt obligated to do something and plopped the dessert on our table. My recommendation is to dine at Melvyns with no expectations and caution. What made me the most frustrated is after complaining to the Matre d, they didn't offer to have us speak to a manager or try to make amends. I didn't feel listened to and that is why I have written the unfavorable review. Thank you for listening.
