Executive chef: Peter Merriman

From the OpenTable editors: The LA Times once called Peter Merriman ‘the aloha Alice Waters’ because of the chef’s lasting reputation for championing local ingredients. At Merriman's, which first opened on the Big Island in 1988, that translates to updated Hawaiian classics like macadamia-crusted mahi mahi and taro falafel. The group blazed trails across four islands by 2018, and the latest Honolulu location stands out for its wild green-and-white floors and jungle prints.

    For Christmas Day, Merriman's Honolulu will be offering a Prix Fixe Menu. We will feature three beautiful courses with a plethora of options to choose from. The price will be $125 per person, or $42 for Keiki. We hope to see you in December! Our menu will be posted on our website in the next few weeks. Please note, credit cards are only taken online to hold reservations. Cards are not charged at the time of booking. Payment is taken at the restaurant, as normal.

                                                                  They were 15 minutes late seating us for our reservation and even then, they only sat us after I had to go back up and ask about the status of our reservation. The entire place seemed over crowded and the staff over stressed. Food was okay.

                                                                  Love the ambience and the cocktails here. I keep coming back for more… and then I’m reminded that the food is mediocre. I’ve never ordered the special of the day, so maybe the chefs save all their magic for that dish.

                                                                  Awesome delicious food from the appetizers to the entrees and superb desserts! The service was excellent too. It was a wonderful birthday celebration for my husband with me and his friends! He also received a special birthday dessert. Such a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely go there again!

                                                                  This was the first time I tried the rosemary grilled eggplant sandwich and I really enjoyed it. Thinking about going back again for lunch and that sandwich soon. The best part of the biscuits is the honey they serve with it. Split the roasted beet salad with my friend.
