MESTIZO is the concept of a group of Mexicans to bring to London a restaurant-bar offering a fine and authentic Mexican cuisine. The name MESTIZO suggests “mezcla” or “fusion”, a term that was utilised principally to designate the descendents of indigenous Mexicans with Spaniards.

This is our second venue in London. Our mission at MESTIZO is to bring to London the best that Mexican food has to offer.

Great service by Nicol. We had a starter of chicken nachos. The portion was very good and it was tasty. Mains was the gourmet sharing tacos. We had the lamb, shrimps, beef and chicken. They tasted good, especially the shrimps. Dessert was the churros. The Mexican Sirah red wine was a good choice to go with our meal.

I had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. We arrived on time for our reservation at 4:30 and started with drinks and appetizers. While enjoying them, we ordered our main course and a bottle of wine. However, an hour and 15 minutes after we arrived—before our main course and wine were even served—a staff member abruptly placed the bill on our table and asked us to leave. When we explained that we were still waiting for our food, she walked away. Another server then brought the wine, but before she could place it on the table, she was stopped by the first staff member. We were completely confused. Then, another employee approached us—not to ask us to leave the restaurant, but to leave our table and move to the bar, which was already overcrowded. His reason? A large group was coming, and they needed the table. We asked to speak to the manager, but instead of addressing the situation, they ignored us and left us sitting at the table for another 20 minutes with no food or drinks. After repeatedly asking what was going on, they finally decided to serve us. While the food and ambiance were okay, the service was absolutely unacceptable. It’s clear they overbooked and prioritized other guests over us, even though we had a reservation and were in the middle of our meal. This kind of treatment is unprofessional and completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. I have never experienced such terrible service in my life, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Our experience at Mestizo was great! The food was incredible and the drinks were great. It was very busy when we went so loud but I enjoyed the buzz, our server was a little bit cold/didn’t take time to explain any of the menu as first time customers but again I do appreciate that the restaurant was full so they were probably rushed of their feet.

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm and friendly team who immediately made us feel at home. Almost every staff member speaks Spanish, which adds to the authentic vibe and gives you a real taste of Mexican hospitality. Fabulous experience. We were left to enjoy ourselves. The servers were very patient with us ordering later because we wanted to talk. And the food was amazing. Tortillas were soft and warm Flor de calabaza was delicious And the pork and green sauce tamales were very tasty. I am Mexican from a traditional family, so I really know Mexican food. Excellent place!

Good food but not a great atmosphere. Storage left out, industrial looking buffet, toys and a messy children’s area. Felt like Mexican fast food and not a restaurant. I don’t think I would go back.

Awkward service from staff, tables placed far too close together, loud (bad) music interrupted every five minutes by birthday celebrations involving even more loud (bad) music and frankly quite offensive sombrero hats, unbalanced cocktails, soggy food and their beans and rice on the side left much to be desired 😭 for a bill of over £260 for four I would hope for a much better experience. Having been to their Camden location (which is lovely) I expected a much better meal. Very disappointing.

Beautiful place. Went for lunch and not busy at all, but suspect it is lively in the evening. This review should be put in context: I am from the U.S. and used to a wide variety of Mexican cultures and foods as well as those from South America. The chips with salsa is ok a the mole dip was good, but the accompanying indescribable white dip was unidentifiable--and white sauce with Mexican food? Maybe a good strong garlic, spiced white sauce but I've not heard of a no-spice mayo-like ranch-type sauce with Mexican food. Tamales were good enough and as close to more authentic than anything we had. . The empanadas, were nice little hand pies but not authentic. The guacamole was overly smooth, pretty tasteless and, again seemed pre-processed, not fresh. Much of the flavor came from the tomato-onion garnish. Presentation, service and environment is nice and if you've never had Mexican food, the food is fine. But if you really want Mexican food? This is not it.
