Chef Dunlap was previously the Executive Sous Chef at The Inn at Little Washington and the Corporate Executive Chef of Quirk Hotels (Quirk Hotel RVA & Quirk Hotel CVille).     We had a wonderful dining experience at Midlothian Chef's Kitchen last night - from the warm greeting by the hostess to the very professional waitstaff and, of course, including the outstanding food! There were many tempting choices but we BOTH decided on the Seared Rockfish - and are glad we did! It was delicious, and moist but even the crispy skin was wonderful (I don't usual like the skin of fish!.) For appetizers, we shared the Burrata & Sourdough and the Salad of Local Greens. They complimented each other wonderfully. By the way, if you are sharing the salad, they will re-plate it for you - divide it onto 2 plates and it is certainly big enough to share! The restaurant was slammed (as could be expected with Richmond w/o potable water for 5 days and counting and we were told that the kitchen was short-handed but it did not affect the operation of the kitchen - things were served in a timely manner (and hot!)

    Food was good but I believe the portions have gotten smaller, probably due to food inflation and the desire to avoid raising prices. As in the past, service was good albeit slow. The kitchen seems to operate on “resort time.” If it ran on a slightly faster schedule, the restaurant may be able to turn the tables one more time.

    Outstanding Restaurant. Menu is wonderful. Chefs is off the chart good. Very accommodating to dietary needs like gluten free. I highly recommend the Restaurant.

    Talk about a hidden gem! This place far exceeded my expectations. We were a little nervous because there were plenty of last minute reservations on a Friday night but that was not indicative of the quality. This was ad good as any fine dining I’ve ever eaten at.

    Excellent Friday night dinner at Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen. We ordered 2 appetizers - pork dumplings & squash soup. Entrees were seared rockfish & bone in pork chop. Crème brûlée for dessert. All items were delicious. Service was friendly & professional. Vibe was casual & relaxed. Chef’s Kitchen is a Midlo treasure.

    Unfortunately we got sat 30 minutes after our reservation time. There was no system for checking in with the hostess or order for who was getting sat. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and food was great. I think they were overbooked which delayed the service but our waiter was great and friendly!
