I have really been looking forward to getting to the Chef’s Kitchen and I can honestly say I’ve never been more disappointed in a restaurant experience in my life. Arrived on time for our reservation and there was no hostess to be found. We just stood there in front, completely unacknowledged, for a full 5 minutes. Finally got seated and ordered drinks. All we ordered were 2 bourbons neat and it took them 45 minutes. 45 minutes to pour some bourbon in a glass. No one ever came to take our order or check on us while we waited. When they finally took our order after almost an hour, they were out of the one thing we wanted. Keep in mind, they only have 6 entrees on the menu and it was only 8 pm on a Friday. How do you build a menu of 6 items and then not even make it through Friday evening without running out of 1 of 6 items? At that point we were starving and ready to get out of there so we just finished our drinks, paid and quietly left. Only “apology” we got was “sorry, we’re busy”. Regarding the bourbon, they have an amazing selection of allocated bourbons. But when you’re selling a $59 bottle of Stagg Jr for $90 for a ONE OUNCE POUR (almost $2,500 for a $59 bottle) it’s pretty clear you don’t care at all about your diners’ experience. Anyway, I’ve heard great things and was excited to go but it was the worst Richmond area dining experience I’ve ever had. FWIW, I have a “never leave a bad review policy”. Small business is tough and I want to support local restaurants. But this was bad enough for me to break my policy and give an HONEST review.

Really fantastic food and service! We went for Valentine’s and would have preferred more spacing between tables.

Cake was dry and low quality. Tables too close together. Steak was good, but did not enjoy it covered in gravy. Potatoes were mediocre.

Phenomenal experience! From the sourdough bread to Bulgarian red wine, melt-in-your mouth roasted chicken to chocolate coconut lime dessert … simply divine. Portion size was perfect, wait staff kind & knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

We spent our valentine's dinner at the bar. The choices in the set menu were balanced, we ended up getting the same dishes - both the salmon tartare and the filet mignon were outstanding. In particular the way the meat was cooked (sous-vide) delivered such a unique experience. I am a meat lover and this was just out of this world, tender, perfect medium rare, warm all over, flavorful... wow! Respect to the team for a great experience.

We went for Valentine’s Day dinner. Our server and food were both incredible. The music was the perfect volume and tasteful, and tables spaced desirably for easy conversation. Would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.
