Disappointing Experience for a 40th Birthday Meal We had high hopes for a celebratory dinner for two friends, but the experience fell far short of expectations. After ordering drinks and food, our waiter offered us a bread basket to start. However, less than 10 minutes later, our main courses arrived—before we’d received either the bread or our drinks. When I mentioned how rushed this felt, the waiter assured us he’d bring the drinks and bread immediately. We eventually got the drinks, but the bread never arrived. We finished our main courses unusually quickly due to the rushed service. Once our plates were cleared, no one asked if we’d like another drink or dessert. We had to flag down a waitress to order another drink, only for her to ask, “Do you have a reservation at the restaurant?” Things went from bad to worse when our waiter brought the bill and told us we had to leave because another reservation was waiting. I fully understand that there’s a time limit on reservations, but it’s the restaurant’s responsibility to ensure the full dining experience is delivered within that timeframe—not to rely on guests to chase them for service. I explained that we hadn’t even been offered dessert, coffee, or additional drinks, and that our meal wasn’t finished. After some back and forth, they “allowed” us to stay another 30 minutes, during which we managed to order coffee. Overall, the experience felt rushed, inattentive, and unenjoyable—a conveyor-belt style of dining that prioritised turnover over customer care. A truly disappointing way to spend a milestone birthday.

Service way too slow. Drinks took so long to come to the table and always had to call for service. And ask for drinks again even though we had ordered.

Service was at times slow. Somewhat expensive, but still one London's most impressive settings.

We were there 25 minutes before someone took our food order, and had to request coffee three times before they brought it. Unacceptable for a restaurant at the Ned.

No side plates or extra cutlery for the toast so had to use the greasy breakfast plate and breakfast cutlery. One small portion of butter and one small amount of marmalade to share with 4 pieces of toast each. Had to ask 3x’s for the ordered orange juice. Ambience was nice, it was quiet enough for breakfast. Bacon was delicious and the whole small breakfast was hot. Not what you expect for a 5* but overall ok.

A vibrant restaurant with a great atmosphere. Excellent food but unfortunately let down on this particular night with poor service. It would seem that the place was understaffed. We were late being seated, and had to chase the table despite being told to wait at the bar. Not once did the waiter then check if we were ok and satisfied, and we had to continually request top ups to our drinks, rather than this be done naturally as you would expect from this establishment. Once the food arrived, it was very good but issues were experienced with the service staff seemingly unclear on the menu, and the choices available. We were however offered a reduction on our desserts when paying the bill without asking because of this mix up. I have eaten in Millie's before and the experience was not as bad as this, so it is hoped it was an off night. Despite the quality of the food the service on this occasion was just not as expected from this type of establishment.

Great food and service in Millie’s lounge, BUT, being ushered off our table with a still a bottle Of Wine left and made to fight to stand somewhere in the rammed bar is not what you expect when you spend a lot of Money on a lunch.

Excellent location, food great. Service broadly fine, though I did have four separate people ask if I was ready to order, when I had already placed the order with the first one!
