About this restaurant

Four key pieces separate us from a traditional steakhouse.

1) We serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put into produce our beef. We like our beef to be, hormone & antibiotic free and pasture raised. Happy cattle make for better steaks.

2) We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

AND NOW THE ONLY LICENCED RESTAURANT TO SERVE AUTHENTIC KOBE BEEF

3) We use an 1800o Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. Our grill stays at very consistent high heat versus a traditional open flame grill. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

4) Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palate for a steakhouse. We broke the mold and decided to add hand selected music that reflects us!

    Always a great spot for me to bring the whole family’s. Steak top notch and perfectly cooked. Great sides and mock tails. Service was perfect amount of attention and privacy. Was a great pre theatre spot !

    Went on Wednesday for the date night special ($98 for 2 steaks and 2 sides and a bottle of wine) we both got the Alberta Striploin and shared the mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Overall fantastic value, the food was delicious and our server was kind, helpful, and attentive. Highly recommend

    Beautiful spread of appetizers leading into Modern Benchmark showcase steak platter that comes from their own ranch and finished with the best baked Alaska I’ve ever had. Highly recommend going here

    Our server - Tess - was tremendous. Knowledgable, attentive, and fun. She walked us through the menu and helped us select some dishes that we wouldn’t normally. Bar menu is also good. Steaks were great. Get the roasted Brussel sprouts. Seriously. Eat Alberta beef. Every day.

    First time at Modern Steak. Pleasant little find. Amazing food ambiance was treated exceptionally well. Was my birthday and they had some nice touches for me. Check out their special dinner nights. More affordable than you think. A must if you want steak skip the keg . Treat yourself!

    We went for the YYC Experience and overall, was a good experience! The wedge salad, wagyu dumplings, braised short rib and dessert were all very tasty! Our favourite was by fair the braised short rib and gnocchi. However, we were extremely disappointed with the steak frites. We ordered it medium/medium-rare and it came out extremely well done. The cut of meat was very tough and had a ton of gristle. It was way below the quality I expected at Modern Steak and we did not enjoy it at all.

    We went for the date night special. It was a mother daughter date night and it was fabulous! The service was out of this world and the food was ultra yummy! I will be back with my other half!
