Back to Monkey Island after our last visit 2 years ago. Happy to report that we had a great lunch and really enjoy the relax setting it always provides to catch up with friends. Food was well cooked and nicely presented. The key thing is that the standard remains high as before. And we were well look after by the friendly staffs. A little hidden gem ...

Super evening. We were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary as we got married at Monkey Island Hotel. The staff were excellent and even showed us around the hotel to show us how the Hotel had evolved over the years. The pastry chef even prepared a little dessert treat for us which was much appreciated. Thank you to all the staff.

Beautiful venue for family or friends lunch! Good value menu for Sunday lunch -£50 for three courses. All courses were delicious. I had carpaccio of beef, salmon and panna cotta. Service was excellent- friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

Lovely restaurant, an oasis of calm on Monkey Island which is reached by a footbridge from the car park. Food is good, though maybe not as exciting as the price suggests, and service was friendly and efficient. Salmon starter was minute but tasty; carpaccio is recommended. Menu said duck was crispy but in fact it was rare in the modern style. Luckily I like it either way but my wife would not have liked it if she had ordered it.

A wonderful place a time out of time. We went with friends to celebrate my birthday. The staff were excellent. They seemed to want to serve you. Having lived in Asia for some time it was like transporting back there. The food was very good. A recommended destination for the discerning.

The restaurant was very nice and the history of the estate was very interesting. Had a few afternoon teas in London over the years and this was the first time I’ve never been offered more sandwiches or scones etc. Also wanted the champagne tea and they didn’t have any champagne only sparkling wine but still charged me the full price. Only two members of staff one duty in the restaurant area and that showed in the service we got.

The level of service was disappointing. Our main was delayed apparently due to poor communication between the waiter and chef and one dish was not cooked. We had to keep calling staff to chase our order/get more wine.

Very, very poor. We booked for breakfast. My wife ordered the Eggs Royale. I ordered the Full English. We ordered toast on the side. The toast arrived cold. We sent it back and it took more than ten minutes to replace. My wife’s eggs arrived cold. My eggs arrived cold. We didn’t eat them. When we pointed this out, we were offered replacement eggs but no refund. We declined the replacement as we had finished everything else and the toast had taken so long to replace. We asked for the check. The check came with everything double charged. We sent it back. Like the toast, it took more than ten minutes to replace. This place is gorgeous. They have more than enough staff. And it’s expensive, which is justified by the setting, in theory. But the food and the service don’t come close to matching the surroundings, and we won’t go back.
