The Monk’s Kettle is a neighborhood tavern in Oakland's Rockridge district offering upscale pub fare and a broad and balanced list of craft beers, ciders, small producer wines and more.

The burger was luke-warm and marginally better than an in-and-out burger. The leek soup tasted watered down and like it came from a can. My wife's bricked chicken however was tasty as well as the accompanying kale salad

Happy to have a Monks kettle in the east bay, the ambiance is nice, cozy outdoor seating area with heaters. The bar has a nice selection of beers etc. The only downside was the food was pretty subpar, especially at the price point. Will be back, but probably just for drinks..and the olives, which were delicious.

What a disappointing addition to the neighborhood. The soup was so reduced it was inedible. The burger was a total throw away. After waiting all that time for the old Citron to be replaced.. this was really disappointing

My wife and I live in the area, and I have very much enjoyed the food and the service during my previous visits. My parents, brother and daughter were in town for Christmas week, and I was very excited to bring them in for a family holiday dinner. I had been bragging about your Lamb Shank and Steak Frites… unfortunately you were out of both signature dishes during our visit, and the remainder of the food was not great. There were also several errors with our order and some of the food was cold, which we brought to the attention of our server. While apologies were offered, the only compensatory offer was a single free draft. It pains me to say it, although it was an embarrassing experience for me as the host. I am happy to discuss further if someone would like to contact me.

Our server, Christian, was the best! His suggestions were short, clear and very helpful. I LOVED the beer he suggested for me. The food was excellent; my burger was perfect, as were the fries. Portions were just right, too. No wasted food. We'll go again. Reader, you should go, too!!!
