   The service was great, though the server clearly should not have been working, She did wear a mask but you could hear her coughing and sneezing a lot off to the side. Mgr gave us great support. Food was a disappointment. We are assuming just a off night for the chef. All of our food was very sweet. Sweetest French onion soup we've ever had. Both of our dishes were on the sweet side (we had different dishes), to the point my wife could not eat hers. Very strange, but the mgr was great and we'll be back for another try. It is a really nice place in an area that needs more nice restaurants.

   A superb meal at Montrio. The best crab cakes I have ever eaten. Scallops cooked to perfection with delicious risotto. My husband's duck breast was delicious. The bar produced excellent vespers (and we are picky). Service was lovely. We wish this restaurant was in our hometown.

   From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted by a professionalism that was top notch! We were taken to a cozy booth, and our waiter came over immediately to greet us and take care of us. He was informative and helpful. He knew and had tasted all the food we ordered, and in my mind, that demonstrates the restaurant has the intent to provide service beyond the norm. He was efficient and friendly! Our drinks were delicious, and the food was wonderful. I'd advise ordering the house salad. It is the best I've ever had, with a mix of greens, nuts and a delicious cheese. The dressing was an unusual vinaigrette, just perfection! I will order it every time I go! I had the short ribs and my husband had lamb shanks. He ate every single bite! We were too full for dessert, but they all looked great. There is a nice balance of food offerings, and wines by the glass as well. I highly recommend this restaurant which has recently been remodeled. It's elegant and festive.

   The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely! The Maitre d does not have good people skills, awkward. Our waitress and the hostess were sweet and accommodating. Food was good, but not what you would expect for the price, lacked flavor and seasoning. Four different entrées; halibut, fillet, chicken, and lamb shank…lamb shank was the best.

   We were somewhat high maintenance due to some miscommunication on our end about party size. The staff was over the top in their efforts to accommodate us on such a busy night. Our server had a great sense of humor, the floor manager and host both and all the staff took wonderful care of us. The food was phenomenal. Arancini, salads, sides and entrees cooked to perfection despite our changing circumstances. We cannot thank them enough. A memorial evening for sure.

   Service from the waiter was very attentive. The food was very tasty, though my pork chop was medium rare rather than the recommended medium. It appears that Montrio makes it a policy to not recognize birthdays as had been mentioned by other reviewers. I noted at the time of my online booking that it was my wife’s birthday and it would be great if they could decorate her dessert plate. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment that this was my wife’s special day.

    One our favorite restaurants in Monterey. The location is just steps from hotel where we stay, so it makes it very convenient. The hostess was super friendly and our waiter, Carlos, was efficient, knowledgeable and very helpful in choosing our meal choices. My steak was served hot, cooked perfectly and served with a lovely huckleberry sauce. The pork belly appetizer was delicious, too!
