Moro restaurant in London’s Exmouth Market may retain its reputation as one of the hippest restaurants in one of the hippest parts of the capital, but this Clerkenwell restaurant still focuses more on good food than its own image. Moro’s décor with its polished wooden floors, long zinc bar, open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven, is functional and welcoming. Cuisine of the southern Mediterranean, from the Iberian Peninsula into Northern Africa, is the menu’s exclusive province.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Moro offers a delightful dining experience with a fusion of Spanish and Moroccan flavors. Guests rave about the "fantastic food and service," with standout dishes like the lamb and sea bass. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a pre-Sadlers Wells meal. While some find it "pricey," the quality and unique flavors make it a "highly recommended" destination for special occasions.

Lovely food but don’t try pre-ballet like us. Arrived before 5.30 but only had time for starter and then finally main course came at 6.50 meaning we had to eat that course in a hurry while paying and not have dessert. Really not able to enjoy what were quite expensive dishes when you have to wolf them down.

Outstanding service. Pre-theatre seating. The restaurant team accommodated an additional and unexpected guest. They were charming and helpful. All delivered professional and engaging hospitality.

Great, relaxed casual atmosphere. Nice and also affordable wine list. Food is good, family style home cooking. Great neighbourhood regular haunt. But in the end we were a bit puzzled at why this place comes so highly recommended. London is full of such restaurants and many are equally good if not better.

Moro is a fantastic spanish restaurant. The hummus was terrific and cod cooked perfectly. One of the best restaurants in London.

First time at Moro. Found it hard to choose a main course as they all sounded delicious. Finally went for the sea bass with braised fennel and white beans. It was so flavourful! Great (big) cheese platter and starter too. Service at the counter was excellent.

I’ve been to Moro many times and today was lunch for 7. The waitor was miserable and insistent on taking orders rather than giving us 5 minutes to peruse the menu. His general negative attitude continued throughout lunch. Food was good as usual, but there was a general hurried feeling as most of the staff ate pasta at the bar whilst we tried to have a relaxed lunch. Moro was better than this in the last 10 years. Maybe just an “off” day or maybe signs that Moro has had its day…

Everything was absolutely perfect. The best place to celebrate a 60th Birthday, with a table of special friends. Thank you.
