Nami Kaze Hawaii is the story of Chef Jason Peel’s culinary journey. Executive chef: Jason Peel

From the OpenTable editors: Chef Jason Peel is known nationally as the former executive chef for Roy’s Waikiki and beloved locally as a cooking instructor at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific. He opened his own restaurant Nami Kaze in 2022, quickly scoring a couple of James Beard Award nominations for izakaya-style small plates, both hot and cold, that star favourite local farmers and fishermen. Service was impeccable. Wait Staff were not only attentive, but extremely happy, and friendly. My wife and I eat out a lot, and have found that since COVID, most restaurant staff appear tired, burned out, and generally not happy. The staff's positive vibe permeates the restaurant.

Today's lunch was very important for my business. I was a little concerned about the set menu. The food was amazing, and portions were perfect. Everyone was raving about how great the food was. Thank you! I will be back for more business meetings!

We were a little hesitant when we found out the Lunch menu is now a set menu. However, we were still able to choose our appetizer and entree and the best part is there isn't much thinking to it since the Chef basically put everything together! The food was fresh, tasty and just AMAZING. And it was actually a lot of food; the 3 men, 220 plus, were filled to the brim. Mahalo Chef and their staff!

This had been our favorite restaurant on Oahu since it opened and I have written multiple rave reviews since our first of many visits. It's such a shame that they have made so many dramatic changes to the menu! We miss the exciting and creative sharable plates and never had a bite of food that wasn't fantastic! Why change the menu to be like every other restaurant in town when you had something special going? And, what happened to the reliable and consistent service? There were many open tables which was unusual for a Saturday night. After being seated for 45 mins without ANY food on our table, we asked the waiter if there was a problem with our order. He checked and returned (empty handed) , apologized and said it would only be a few more minutes. He walked by our table again after we had waited another 15 mins. We asked him once again and he again apologized and said it would be a few more minutes. At that point after being seated for 60 mins without anything to eat, we told him we weren't waiting any longer and we very sadly left and won't be back.

Perfect in every way! Impeccable service and the best meal we had while vacationing on O’ahu. Fine dining without the pretense and fuss. We will return!

Music a little loud would love the side room but it is very drab. Nonetheless the service and food is outstanding!!! We always want to try new items but there are certain tried and true menu items. We were excited to try the new menu for 2025 and it was awesome! Definitely will be back again. Server was super nice and patient with us.
