Since the opening of their acclaimed Restaurant Nicholas in 2000, Chef Nicholas Harary and his wife, Melissa, modernized the concept of fine dining. This mainstay of Red Bank garnered some of the industry’s highest praise, including 15 straight years as Zagat’s highest-rated restaurant in New Jersey, a 4-star review in the New York Times, and a position on several national “best restaurant” lists.

Now, with Barrel & Roost, the couple strips off the white tablecloths and serves up a bold new menu: made-from-scratch food that’s crazy-delicious, yet entirely accessible any night of the week. Set in a newly redesigned modern farmhouse interior, Barrel & Roost is just the place to enjoy Chef Driven Comfort Food with family, old friends, or a grab a drink at the bar for date night!

Lunch menu with great variety for meat eaters and veggies alike. Highly recommend the Buffalo Bleu chicken sandwich, nicholas burger and tuna poke.

Service and decor are first rate. Space is noisy. Food is just ok. Been here four times now and never ate anything that wasn’t underwhelming.

I had not been to this restaurant in several years. The decor has changed-very nice. The menu did have some of the previous items, in addition to some what I would describe as”pub-style” selections. I had the bourbon glazed sucking pig whic was probably the most delicious piece of pork I ever had. My friend enjoyed the halibut immensely. Our dessert, which we shared, was the S’mores item. It was a really different take on this classic. Absolutely delicious and a unique way of serving it in a small iron skillet. Our servers were delightful. Attentive without being intrusive. Very glad I returned to this restaurant. Will be back.

My favorite spot for a casual meal, lunch or dinner. A menu chocked full of dishes we're all "familiar" with but prepared impeccably with the freshest top-quality ingredients and always an extra special Nicholas touch of attention to detail. And don't overlook the finest selection of wines and spirits for your sipping pleasure. The entire staff is pleasant, well trained, and very good at what they do. The atmosphere is so comfortable that once you get settled in, you don't want to leave.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere. Only thing I would say is they couldn’t substitute anything, like egg whites instead of whole eggs. Otherwise very nice brunch.

Everything was very good, except I felt we were being rushed. Server was pleasant and the food is always good. It was loud, but can’t blame the restaurant for people shouting instead of just talking 🤔

We love this place however the food quality has been gradually going down over the last month or so. Sad.
