The newest creation from the owners of the beloved Villa Azteca in Downtown Salinas (Salinas City Center), the eatery honoring the Alvarez family patriarch will open Summer 2023 in Carmel Plaza. The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will have indoor dining, bar seating and a small outdoor space, serving specialty Michoacán dishes as well as other Mexican favorites, incorporating three generations of family recipes.

    This is not your ordinary Mexican restaurant… instead it is fine dining personally crafted per your order and served by an attentive and informed staff. The cocktails are also devine!

    We dined here for the first time this past weekend and unfortunately we did not have a great experience and left disappointed. The main problem was how long it took for our food to arrive. It took at least 45 minutes for an appetizer and two entrees to arrive. We had to ask multiple times where our food was. They seemed unorganized and unapologetic about the wait. When the food finally did arrive, it was very good and we enjoyed it. However, I don’t feel the good food was worth the wait and annoyance. I’m not sure we will go back.

    It was my husband’s birthday and we were hoping for a nice meal. It was not busy and the food took forever to come. 45 minutes until the appetizer. The staff was not engaged and when we got the main courses mine was cold and my husband’s fish was overcooked. I agree with another reviewer that the food and service were off. We were really disappointed.

    Food is outstanding, full of flavor. Highly recommend the Birria appetizer with fresh home made tortillas. The fresh Lemonade is delicious as well. All items we had we enjoyed and were yummy. You have to go into it knowing you are paying for high quality Mexican food. $46 for fajitas was a bit pricey but it was very good, chips and salsa were $18.... but you get a variety of delicious homemade salsas. The service was very good, and we appreciated Carlos' professionalism and honesty about what we might like or not like on the menu.

    The bone marrow appetizer is awesome. The house specialty is the bone marrow with shrimp, but we prefer the bone marrow with corn. The pork shank main course was also awesome. Bring your own wine. The wine list is puny. But the tequila alternatives are expansive.
