   After hearing all the hype, our party was overall disappointed. Our server did not engage with us in any way other than to take our orders or and never even welcomed us to the restaurant. Service was agonizingly slow. We had to flag down a random employee to get water refills. Or server never asked us if we wanted refills from the bar (and our initial bar drinks took forever to arrive, coming after our appetizers). I looked around and saw other servers engaging with their tables. Our calamari appetizer was rubbery (although others at my table like the beef carpaccio). I agree with other reviews that my pasta was overcooked and mushy and the Bolognese lacked any flavor. I had what is supposed to be their signature dish, but I left it half-finished. No complimentary bread service seems like a miss for an Italian restaurant. Also, no offer of parmesan cheese for our entrees (again, we had to flag down a random server). Little Mama's and Mama Ricotta's are infinitely better choices for Italian food in Charlotte.

   It was a good experience, but they were out of their signature dish, and the service was slow. We received one of our appetizers when the main course arrived.

   We had a reservation on a Saturday evening. The whole hostess area was a mess. One girl pointed us where to go to check in, 3 other people arguing over where to seat people didn’t acknowledge us for what felt like forever before I spoke up. They were all stressed and all the patrons could feel it. I almost wanted to walk how because of how poorly they were acting. Once sat our waiter was very nice and checked on us often. The bar was backed up and we didn’t receive our drinks until we had finished our appetizers. Food was good, but unfortunately we probably won’t return because of the service. Also, if you are going to have people wait 20 minutes for a drink, at least bring bread to the table or something.

   Excellent gem lettuce salad with chicken, creamy butternut squash polenta was to die for! Extensive cocktail and wine menu. Affogato dessert was a perfect end to the meal. This is my second time here and we’re looking forward to the next visit.

   This place is highly regarded and is very popular so expectations were high. Food was terribly disappointing. Bolognese was just ok (just a mediocre rendition of the meat sauce) and the pappardelle ribbons in the dish were tragically overcooked and gelatinous. An Italian restaurant should be able to get pasta right. It is supposed to be al dente. Absolutely shameful. And the dish was $23.50. Ricotta cavatelli was tasty but pasta was also overcooked. Service was very good and so were the cocktails.

   Food was adequate. Was slightly cool and taste was ok. Service was poor. Server never offered grated cheese for food, and when asked offered a plastic container of pre grated cheese. Never asked about refills of drinks or water.

    This was my second time eating here and I think the scratch made kitchen makes all the difference. The food is delicious. Everyone always likes their meal and wants to take home their leftovers. The atmosphere is so enjoyable.
