   This was not our first time, but it was our first holiday experience in-doors. My daughter and I frequented during the summer and always ate outside. The food was simply amazing as always, as well as the waitstaff. I have a seafood allergy and my waitress was spectacular in making sure I was taken care of. If you haven’t been, go. You will not be disappointed.

   The New Years set menu was overpriced. We felt rushed to order when we sat down, then it took about half an hour for appetizers to come out, and the meatballs were served almost cold. We had to go and get drinks from the bar as our server didn’t return for quite some time. Entrees tasted very good but considering it’s an Italian restaurant, there was no Parmesan for pasta and no salt or pepper at the table. Desert was included in the price and sold out by the time we were served. They made up for it by including a different desert, however it was barely one messy spoonful in the bowl. I would have preferred no desert and a discount than the one we received. For a set menu at $70 per person, I would expect a little more. I could have ordered off the regular menu and not even come close to that price. Overall, probably won’t return given the quality of other restaurants in the bowl.

   NYE dining experience was not good . Fixed rate was very expensive and I did not know it was going to be a limited menu. That information was not posted on their website . If I’d known we would not have gone there

   Nice atmosphere but our food came out cold. It was a pre fixe menu night so I expect they just had all the meals sitting there... The Fra Diavolo had no spice whatsoever.

   Everything was great we really enjoyed our time at the restaurant. If we could change anything it would be more privacy with the seating arrangements.

   I loved the fact that they have vegetable noodles. I need low carb for real health reasons and this is the only Italian place I know around Charlotte which will accommodate that. And it was delicious!

    There’s a good energy at this Ballantyne North Italia location, but note that the noise level is pretty intense. The place was packed when we went there on 12/30, with people still waiting for tables when we left at 8:15pm, which seems to be unusual for most Charlotte restaurants. Service was slow overall, taking a while for drinks and our salads. They were perhaps short-staffed? (Other family members had gone to this location before and felt totally ignored, and their service was extremely slow.) Our server must’ve forgotten to put our entrée order in as we still hadn’t received it an hour later. When we inquired about it, she said she’d wanted to make sure we’d gotten our salads first (they were long finished). Ultimately we got out in an hour and a half, which is acceptable, but it should’ve been about 20 min less. We ordered the arugula/avocado/fennel salad which was simple but tasty. The pappardelle bolognese was delicious! The branzino was good but suffered from the typical restaurant mistakes—too much butter sauce and excessive saltiness (too many salty capers paired with too much additional salt). We’ll return for another try but the next time we’ll tell them very little salt and super light on the sauce if we order the branzino!
