Another stunning Sunday meal for all at the Townhouse. Beautiful beef, lamb and chicken. Plentiful veg, well prepared and with a nice firm texture, gravy a little weak for my liking. Desserts all good and cheese board good quality but not worth the price. Excellent value apart from that and the best around.

Staff at the townhouse are very friendly and accommodating, especially when ordering with allergies. We ordered the Sunday roast and it was good portion sizes - nut roast and roast lamb. Both dishes had lovely flavours. The lamb was very soft, and the vegetables accompanied with the dish, were not overcooked (especially considering we ate after 3pm, close to end of service!). The kids had the chicken and fries which were lovely presented, and not greasy as you would normally expect it to be. A few nitpicky comments I have is:- 1. The toilets had an off-putting smell (possibly the sewage pipes?), and the mirrors weren't exactly the cleanest (both in baby change, and ladies toilet). 2. Some of the lights on the ceiling were covered in cobwebs which is not hard to miss considering you are bound to look up at the lights. 3. I was surprised our cups of tea were served in a cup with a teabag in it, not a tea pot. I thought with the restaurant also serving afternoon tea, the tea would come in a tea pot at least, especially as we ordered two cups of tea for the table. Overall, the food was delicious and we'll be visiting again (hoping the cleanliness will have improved by then too!). Thank you for a great Sunday lunch today.

This time, we experienced the Christmas menu, which was exquisite 👌 I had the loin of venison, done to perfection, and the creme brulee was sensational!!! If you can get a table, try this.... you will not be disappointed!!!

Having raved about this restaurant in the past ,the Christmas fayre was disappointing. Only one of our party of four really enjoyed their meal. The hot smoked salmon and crab on sour dough toast was a very nice starter, but the broth was too thick and not very tasty. None of the main courses looked very appetising. The roast chicken was said to be"quite nice," and the pork belly" delightful " However the turkey was a bit of a disaster.Served as a thick (too thick) slice of rolled stuffed turkey on top of a mound of mashed potato, accompanied by pale pigs in blankets, roast potatoes which were not browned off, roast carrot, hard sprouts, parsnip and anaemic -looking mixed greens and gravy. The plate looked a mess and although everything was cooked it was all rather tasteless and not the treat we were looking forward to. ' The creme brulee was pleasant although it did not really taste of apple and cinnamon and the mulled wine trifle was lovely. Although this meal was offered at a very reasonable price, it certainly did not meet our expectations.

The food was amazing however it was very busy. It took a while for them to take our order. Food came out very quickly but the drinks took a while (didn’t get them until after we had eaten the starter). We ordered another drink with dessert and after ordering that we were brought the bill which felt a bit rude.
