   We have been there several times. This was a wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. The food, the service, they definitely make special occasions fun.

   It’s always a good dining experience when you go to Ocean Prime KC. It was holiday prime time on a Saturday night. The atmosphere and food were very good. Only ball they dropped was, they were slow on their amazing pretzel bread. No reason to miss this wonderful dining in the beautiful Plaza area. Keep up the good work OP.

   I never complain. Ever. But we had a reservation at 6:30 last night and were told upon arrival that they were running about 15 minutes behind. No big deal…things happen. We were seated for dinner at 7:24. No offer of a comp of any kind as we sat at the bar consuming four drinks (one being a $17 mocktail as I don’t drink) for $100+ and I started to get hangry. We checked with the hostess three times only to be assured that we would be seated “soon”. It didn’t occur to anyone on the management team who knows this is happening to provide any sort of good will offering? I’ve worked in hospitality most of my life and own a service based business and this is Service 101. When we are spending $600 for dinner for four people I expect better. How do you get an hour behind on service by 6:30 pm? Food and service were good, as always, once we were seated. I highly doubt we will be back, though.

   We had an early dinner last night as a family after a fun day shopping. After being on time for our reservation we waited a few minutes for our table. It was packed as expected during the holidays. We had a nice waitress, not the most attentive but she was clearly busy with several tables. We had one drink completely mixed wrong and had to be redone after flagging someone down it was correct quickly. The appetizers came out fast and were good. Then salad course. The main course is where things fell off the rails. We suddenly started to get seriously rushed. Small hints they had lots of parties coming in started to be dropped by the waitress. Asking to box food and family style side up when others hadn’t even finished. A giant sack was plopped on our table, we still had two people eating! I moved the sack to the seating as it was embarrassing. The waitress’s helper started clearing half our table, asking for assistance in pushing items his way. I might as was terrible at pouring water, and spilled it EVERY single time he filled our glasses. Dessert menus were barely offered. We all started talking about the rush, it was obvious. It sucked the fun out of our nice evening, as the tension feeling was very awkward. Our check was close to $1000 including tip. We had 4 people. We had drinks, wine & a three course meal…it was okay, some parts good but it should have been spectacular. It’s not our problem THEY overbooked their restaurant. We can only eat as quickly as the food is bought to us. We didn’t linger to order, or over talk. This was not an issue on our end. It’s a gorgeous bar, gorgeous room & has major potential but you shouldn’t be rushed spending that much on a premium meal experience. We had just been to Stock Hill days before and had an incredible experience…not rushed one bit!…and amazing food! If your food experience is going to be a gamble paying that much I suppose I’d rather go somewhere they value me and my guests.

   We loved our experience at Ocean Prime. I have declared it one of my favorite high end restaurants in KC. Beautiful decor, great ambiance and the food and drinks were delicious. We had the berry cocktail which is a fun experience! We also ordered scallops, Brussels sprouts, steak, mash potatoes and the chocolate dessert. All perfectly cooked and full of flavor! Our server was awesome too! We will definitely go back!
