Fantastic Food & Impeccable Service at Officina Had a wonderful dinner at Officina at The Wharf! We started with the burrata and the homemade daily special sausage—both were absolutely delicious. The burrata was incredibly creamy, and the sausage was packed with flavor. For mains, I had the stuffed calamari, which was a completely new experience for me—unexpectedly filling and bursting with flavor. My date got the chicken parm, which was perfectly crispy and comforting. The restaurant was slammed with a special event and a dinner rush, so we had a long wait for our entrees, but the staff went above and beyond. They kept checking on us and even brought over two glasses of champagne to make up for the delay—truly impeccable customer service. On top of the fantastic food and service, the location is unbeatable. You can see the Wharf fireworks from the top floor, which made for a magical night. Definitely planning to return soon—next time, we’re grabbing a patio table! Highly recommend.

We will never come back Over priced food. Very mediocre, My son ordered Chicken Parm for $35 that came out with a little side of arugula no potatoes no pasta. And it took 45 min plus to get our main courses after they cleared the appetizer plates. Apparently our server who was excellent and manager knew about this price gouging and basically said “ we have no control” over it . That is just ridiculous

The restaurant is estheticallt pleasing. We were seated upstairs, which was a bit warm. We ordered drinks and our entree. A asked the server what type of pasta came with the Chicken parmigiana entree. She proceeded to tell me I could have whatever pasta in whatever er sauce on the side, so I ordered pomodoro sauce. The drinks arrived quickly and the entree arrived too quick for us to enjoy the ambience and the drink. When we got the check to my surprise I was charged for 2 separate entrees as pasta apparently does not come with the chicken. It was my first time there since I was on a little trip to see the cherry blossoms. I didn’t complain, however I deducted the amount of the extra entree from the bill and only tipped the server 10% on that amount! eat out often and have children that are servers so I would never not tip, however, I was not mistaken, she got it totally wrong! We were a party of two so no way we would purposefully order 3 entrees. She seemed unsure and new so maybe it’s a training issue. On top of that I barely ate the pasta bc the chicken was filling and it wasn’t very flavorful , but I didn’t think anything of it because I thought it was just a side. Had I know I would have have it removed from the table.

This is our second time dining here because the first time was absolutely amazing. However, I’m not sure what happened this time to receive such poor service and food. Maybe it had to do with the Cherry Blossom crowd which overwhelmed downtown DC. But that’s like the Super Bowl for restaurants and food trucks so you would think they would be on their game. The only saving grace was that my GF was able to get the bill reduced significantly. We won’t be returning!

The view was amazing, however the sun was hot and in our eyes. Th food was delicious, but the prices were high and the portions small. We only got about 10 pieces of calamari in our appetizer. We also paid $26 for 4 glasses of iced tea. (No free refills)

AMBIENCE: Dining room is a lovely, open space. Service was attentive and friendly. Music was dissonant, like radio hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Woman at table next to us dropped F-bombs incessantly all night. Chairs are too deep and not entirely comfortable to sit in. COCKTAILS: Negroni Biondi promised coffee and banana infusions, but it was just a standard Negroni. They were out of white chocolate mousse for the espresso martini, which was fortuitous, as it was just perfect. ANTIPASTI: Caesar salad was traditional, unremarkable. Fritto misto included calamari, shrimp, and shishito peppers, covered jn decent breading but overcooked and under-seasoned; the bright yellow saffron emulsion was strangely flavorless. Also, the place setting included a bread plate, but no bread? PASTA: Large portions of both spaghetti carbonara and cacio è pepe, both under-seasoned. Carbonara was creamy and delicious, but tasted oddly like canned chicken noodle soup. Cacio è pepe (also under-seasoned) would have benefited from more cacio and definitely more pepe. DESSERT: Cannoli looked and tasted good, but the shell was too thin and too overfried, so it was like a pasta chip. COST: Fairly charged for what we ordered, but disappointing for the overall quality. An A for intentions, but a C for execution. Officina has all the tools to be really excellent; I hope they make the changes so they can succeed.

Food is always great here. Service started off very poorly. Wine glasses weren’t changed out from the bar service. Red and white wine was ordered but the server couldn’t figure out what was ordered and it wasn’t until there was stink eye of why it was taking so long that the Somm stepped in. Once she took care of service everything went well sheet that. One wine note is that the house red at the bar is Pinot noir which is a little strange for an Italian restaurant.

They were supposed to seat me by the cafe for the live music. They sat me upstairs instead.
