Omakai Sushi is nestled in the historic downtown San Jose, one block away from the art walk. The restaurant includes a spacious cocktail bar, sushi bar where you can have an amazing Omakase experience , and an outdoor patio area by the fountain. Open for lunch & dinner, starting at 3:00 pm until 11:00pm. From the moment we entered Omakai we just knew we were going to have a fabulous evening and dinner. The welcoming we received and the ambience set the mood immediately. And the rest did not disappoint. To begin with the service was spot on and knowledge of menu and libations made our selections for the evening perfection. The menu was interesting which made our selections harder because we wanted everything. The crispy rice cakes with fatty tuna tartare melted in your mouth. It was so good we had a second one for dessert. LOL. All of the fish was as fresh as if it just came off the boat. My husband and I have dined in many sushi restaurants around the world and Omakai ranks among the best.

The most amazing sushi experience of our life. We went with the omakase and each course was outstanding. Chef Michel is a true artist and the pride he puts into each item truly shows. The restaurant itself is stunning and the service was excellent. Cannot recommend this place enough.

10 out of 10! The sushi was some of the best we have ever had and the menu offers more than just sushi, with incredible Japanese cuisine. You must try their chef selected nigiri. The pieces melted in your mouth and the flavors were so well balanced. We must give a shout to our server Mauricio for exceptional service and making our experience so wonderful! Timing was perfect, we never felt rushed and he guided through the menu perfectly.

Hidden in the middle of a dark, narrow street in downtown San Jose, a little gem. Lovely people and very good sushi.

The sashimi was absolutely amazing. Waitstaff was beyond friendly and made sure we were taken care of. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh fish and good atmosphere!

Amazing food , everything we had was awesome. Do not pass this place up, very unique take on sushi but every bite is sensational. Wine paired with the meal was great too by Maurice!
