The name Ombra literally means ‘shadow’, in Venetian dialect it’s the familiar term for a small glass of wine, which originates from the traditional wine sellers retreating to the shade of St. Mark's Tower to shield the wines from the hot sun. Similarly, Ombra is a place where you can retreat to the shade, protected from the hot spots of London, and chill out at a place that is yours, taking your time over fresh homemade pasta, seasonal vegetables, fresh fish and meat, organic wines and good old conversation.

I made a reservation through open table. When I arrived the table wasn't prepared because nobody checked open table, basically, I get a table just because there was a free table and another client didn't arrive before us. I needed the table for 10people.the person in charge didn't give me any solution and we had to eat in a table no for 10people. If you are no checking open table why do you use its service? Nobody apologised for this. WE HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH £25 FOR PUTTING A CAKE ON A PLATE !!! and bring the cake when the waitress wanted and because of this, she ruined the whole thing. Putting the cake on the table just like something else. When it is an important moment when we are talking about a birthday. If you are going to charge this amount for this, which it is the first time I see this in my whole life, do it professionally. We had to ask to clean the table 3 times. They mentioned a charge for this service but nobody said the amount, which now I understand because nobody in the right mind pays £25 for it. we gave you a bag with the birthday cake and there was a very expensive chocolate box in it too. We asked to bring the birthday cake, what was my surprise when I saw the chocolates on the table too. This was a present, nobody told you to do that and if you don't know just ask. I asked for the chocolate bag to put them back and one member of the kitchen was quite rude to me because I asked for it. I think that when you have a table with nearly £400bill and all these issues at least you can offer a drink like a shot. DONT BORTHER TO SEND AN EMAIL TO THEM BECAUSE THEY DONT USE THAT EITHER.

This is what food should be like: seasonal full of flavours and unpretentious.

We live locally and are supporters of 'young' local restaurants. We read the reviews and decided to spend date night at Ombra. Such a disappointment. We knew it was a limited menu - not a problem as our booking was at 8pm (hardly late) and x 2 One each of the 4 starters and main courses were already finished. When requesting the 2nd beer, that too had run out. Who runs out of Peroni!! They could have nipped to the local Sainsburys to stock up surely?! My partner chose not to have a starter (his choice unavailable), and decided to wait for the main course - the seafood pasta - which arrived hosting 3 tired looking prawns, 1 clam and a mussel. Throughout the evening the staff were constantly asking if all was ok to the point it was embarrassing when clearly our experience of the restaurant we felt was somewhat compromised. When we spoke to the waiter about the food - his response was 'well theres plenty of pasta? Thats as maybe but #13 for a bowl of pasta - not our idea of a great dining experience. We then followed up with another waiter - after he too asked if 'everything was ok?' He too looked confused at our comments. Clearly the question asked but with no idea how to handle if the response anything but positive. It all could have been avoided by staff who knew how to talk to guests. We decided to call it a sorry night and the bill was asked for. Some confusion ensued whilst we watched the staff debate a goodwill payment - #6 was finally take off our #40 something bill. To add insult to injury, the owner was standing at the bar, asked if something was wrong and then ignored the conversation. Just happy to take the cash perhaps?! I cannot tell you the last time I felt compelled to write a review such as this. Avoid this one at all costs. There are stax of amazing places instead of this one - try Morito just up the road for eg. more exe but amazing food, great staff and fantastic wine.

This is one of our favourite places to go for dinner/drinks, its simple and has a really nice warm atmosphere -we always have such a happy time. Food is great especially the ragu. Feels very authentically venetian.

Lovely meal - a Venetian restaurant/bar with seasonal, fresh menu. Impeccable and responsive service, really tasty food with authentic Italian choices we hadn't been presented with before. Reasonably priced. Burrata salad was particularly delicious!

Unexpected, lovely find! We always try and find places to eat that are close to the gigs we go to - but don't cost the earth. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was absolutely lovely and we had a great time.
