Ondine Restaurant, Edinburgh. The food is excellent, fresh, interesting, but not over complicated. Mussels to start, sea bass for main, both perfectly cooked. the only downside is that it is rather expensive.

What a lovely restaurant ondine is - it really felt like a grand occasion when we ate here.Delicious oysters and fish stew - we will certainly be back

Ondine restaurant, Edinburgh Not our first visit, returning because it's one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh. It's certainly in the top 3 of seafood restaurants. We went with the excellant fixed lunch 3 courses for £19, excellant value for the standard of food and service.. Lovely setting looking out over the corner at the top of Victoria Street, it's above Pizza Express.

We really enjoyed our evening at Ondine. We went as a couple whilst on a mini-break and the restaurant was just lovely. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, the food was divine, and the decor was simple but stylish. A VERY small criticism would be that the tables are slightly closer together than we'd be used to in other restaurants so it was a little difficult no to overhear other people chatting. This didn't however detract from the beautiful food and superlative service.

For a Sunday lunch we had starters of tempura squid and fish soup. The squid was tender and the soup full of flavour. We then splurged by sharing a platter of roasted shellfish, comprising lobster, langoustines, clams, mussels, scallop and oyster. Really messy to eat, but we had a great time working our way through the delicious platter. Service was efficient if not overly warm.
