Such a cool place to eat. The atmosphere was quite good and the staff was excellent. I love a good salad bar and this one didn’t disappoint . My only criticism was the steak. I got a NY Strip medium rare. The cook was medium which is normally ok for me, but the steak itself was tough and gristly throughout—not just along the side as a strip should have. Flavor was great, sides were great. Just a lot of leftover meat on the plate.

Hate to say it but it was "nothing special". The restaurant was recommended by friends who have had a place here for over 30 years and their other recommendations were solid, so we gave it a try. Nice touch was the salad bar which has been lost in restaurants with similar menus. That said, the food was just average. The baked potato was barely warm and tasted like it was cooked hours ago and just warmed before serving, the prime rib - the meat was "chewy" ... making me think it that it was not sourced from a good quality farm, the rice pilaf was average and the salmon was fine but fine is the best I can give it. It was a busy night and so it may have just been that the kitchen was just backed up, but.... not sure I would give it a second shot.

We had three meals that night. The ribs were the best. The prime rib was tough and overpriced and the elk was extremely peppery, although tender. I was disappointed in the expense, compared to other restaurants in steamboat. The atmosphere was great and had some historical content to it.

Terrific meal & excellent service. Moderate noise level only because neighboring table had extremely noisy, cranky little kids. Doesn’t usually bother us, but they were exceptional. NOT the Ore House’s fault. We love the Ore House!
