   Very nice, comfortable restaurant in downtown Palo Alto. The food is great and the service and atmosphere are excellent.

   Best Italian food restaurant in the Palo Alto- Menlo Park area. Noisy, but bright. Well located near public parking.

   We were seated and then asked if we would mind moving to another table. The lady that asked said that they would give each of us dessert, if we agreed to move. We moved. After an hour of waiting for our main course, we noticed that people who arrived before us, already received their food. We asked our waiter for an eta of our dinner since we had somewhere to be after dinner. He responded with “oh you want your food now?” We were surprised at his response. He suddenly got really loud which was embarrassing. His attitude completely changed after that. We were not rude at all! He said he would check on it which he didn’t because he walked by again and then asked a waitress to check on our food. We had to eat quickly and only ate half our meal. We paid while we were still eating. We asked for our dessert to go. We told him that we were offered a free dessert. He said that he didn’t know and brought one. There were four of us. We told him that we were each promised a dessert. He seemed annoyed by that. We ended up just leaving. This place was highly recommended by a friend but with this service, we will never go back.

   Regularly dine here for business lunches, and that has been a decent experience, but dinner was very disappointing. Arrived on-time for our reservation, hostess was busily playing with her phone, showing pictures or texts to a colleague - looked at us and continued to talk with her and no acknowledgment of us for nearly 2 minutes! I nearly walked out at that point. Hostess then was rude when we asked for an adjacent table rather than being seated right in middle of restaurant - and the place wasn’t even 1/3 full upon arrival. Great waiter, but kitchen fumbled all night and it took nearly 3 hours to get through a basic salad course and entrees for a table of 3….didn’t bother with dessert given the mediocre food and poor service timing… With so many other great options in downtown Palo Alto, can’t say I’ll be going back. Very sad as I’ve been a somewhat regular guest for years.

    We had a delightful evening @ Osteria, highlighted with Adrian as our server. I'd go back for the bolognese all by itself, but top it off with a bottle of Il Fauno, and you have a meal I'll long remember.
